Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
It has been fantastic to see your children throwing themselves into the co-curricular clubs over the past fortnight. Staff have really enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm around school, with pupils trying new activities, developing existing skills and discovering interests they may not have explored before.
One of the things I value most about our co-curricular programme is the breadth of opportunities it gives pupils to find something they genuinely enjoy. Whether it is sport, music, the arts, outdoor pursuits, academic enrichment or one of the many other activities on offer, these experiences are an important part of school life. They give pupils the chance to build confidence, develop teamwork and resilience, form friendships and challenge themselves in different ways. They also give us another opportunity to get to know our pupils beyond the classroom, to see what excites them, what they are good at and, sometimes, to help them discover strengths they did not know they had.
The introduction of our new registration process is intended to help protect and strengthen that breadth of opportunity into the future. By understanding more accurately which activities pupils wish to attend, we can ensure clubs are staffed appropriately, meet our safeguarding responsibilities, make effective use of facilities and respond more effectively to demand. It will also enable us to communicate more clearly with families when arrangements change.
A reminder that parents need to register their child for their chosen clubs via SOCS (link here) by 9.00am on Monday 21 September. Please see the SOCS Guidance (here) for step-by-step instructions. Once registrations have closed, we ask pupils to make a commitment to their chosen clubs and attend each week for the remainder of the term. Unfortunately, we cannot accept late registrations or changes after the deadline.
As with any new initiative, we will continue to listen carefully to feedback from pupils and parents as the programme develops. We are grateful for the support, suggestions and positive engagement we have already received.
Alongside our clubs programme, we are also developing additional House and pupil-led opportunities throughout the year, helping to ensure pupils continue to benefit from a wide range of experiences and opportunities to get involved in school life.
If your child has any concerns about their clubs, or if there is anything you feel we should be aware of, please do speak to their Form Tutor in the first instance, who will be happy to help.

Clubs and Activities - Early Finish on Tuesday
Due to the Sixth Form Open Evening taking place on Tuesday evening, all clubs and activities will finish slightly earlier than usual at 4.45pm.
The library will remain open until 6pm (as normal) for pupils who need to be supervised until this time.

Parking Safety
As we settle into the new school year, we would like to remind everyone of safety around drop off, parking and Trennick Lane.
Please do not drop off or wait in Epworth Court. We are keen to support our local community and be good neighbours, so please use the Sir Ben Ainslie car park to drop off and collect pupils, rather than stopping or waiting in Epworth Court.
Please do not park, wait or drop off on the yellow hatched areas or double yellow lines in the Sir Ben Ainslie car park.
These areas are deliberately hatched to:
-Maintain visibility for vehicles travelling through the car park
-Provide a safer route for pupils walking through the car park
-Allow drivers pulling out of parking bays to see approaching vehicles, pedestrians and pupils
If you need to drop off, please turn right as you enter the car park and use the red areas indicated on the map (link below).
When in the car park, please follow the white arrows to support safe use of the car park. You may be asked to move your vehicle by a member of staff.
Please also avoid dropping off outside The Burrell and The Ode. This is a particularly busy area for pupils and vehicles, and stopping here increases congestion and the risk of restricted visibility.

Exciting news… Tickets are now on sale for Truro School’s spectacular production of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s legendary rock musical, coming to the Ode Assembly Hall from 18–21 November 2026.
Upcoming Careers Talks

Our visitor is Anthony Martin, who will be talking about routes into the construction industry, including qualifications, degrees and apprenticeships.
Construction offers a huge range of well-paid opportunities, from project management, quantity surveying and civil engineering to skilled trades such as electrical work and renewable energy. Diploma credits are awarded for attendance.

FTS Coffee Mornings
A very warm welcome to all our new and returning families. We’re delighted to be starting the new school year with you and would love to see you at one of our FTS Coffee Mornings.
