One of the main roles of Truro School Sixth Form is to set students up for the rest of their lives; working with our thriving and supportive community we have developed Truro School Connected.
A professional and social network of past and present students, parents, staff and governors working together to offer students life-changing opportunities, Truro School Connected encourages every member of the Sixth Form to enjoy and benefit from their association with the Truro School Community.
Sixth Form students may benefit from:
Gain insight into your preferred employment sector and develop personal networks
Gain more experience ready for university and/or employment interviews
Spend time with a professional gaining a brilliant insight into that particular job role or sector of employment
Hear from those at different points of the career ladder, just setting out and those who have years of experience
Have your CV checked by those recruiting into your chosen career path
Many alumni return to visit the Sixth Form, ready to inspire our current students through talks and workshops, often offering personalised advice whilst here. Our alumni also play an essential role in delivering our Medical Pathways Programme.
Truro School Connected is as important in shaping the achievements of our younger alumni as it is in helping them towards their next steps at 18. Recent alumni are encouraged to make use of Truro School Connected through the Development Office and are invited to Networking events in London and Bristol. These play an essential role in bringing members of our community together and provide a platform for professional and social networking long after a student has left the Sixth Form.
Our school motto, Esse Quam Videri (to be, rather than to seem to be), captures the essence of our identity and is defined by the 5 C's below. Underpinned by strong Christian principles, we are a caring and inclusive community which values, nurtures and develops each individual.

To be and to become learners for life, to enjoy the discovery and development of knowledge, understanding, skills and interests, and to critically examine the world around us.
Because we believe that academic excellence is an important part of human excellence. Every child is an individual and we celebrate and develop their uniqueness, helping them to become an independent learner and encouraging each child to explore, understand and cultivate their talent and abilities, whatever they may be.
To be aware of and to champion the needs of others, with charitable hearts, as part of a commitment to benefit the Cornish community, and the world beyond.
Because our mission challenges us to be a vibrant community which enables people to live their lives to the full and transform society for the better. Located in the heart of Cornwall, our distinctive, serene location supports the development of balanced, unpretentious and reflective children who understand their role as global citizens.
To be people who relish intellectual and wider challenge, and to build resilience by learning from both success and failure alike, on our educational journeys.
Because we want every pupil to be comfortable in their own skin, celebrating the uniqueness of each individual in the school community. Through drama, presenting and public speaking opportunities, as well as appearing in productions and concerts, pupils learn key communication skills and gain the confidence to prosper in the real world.
To be people who relish the search for new ideas and approaches that positively and sustainably shape our lives, the lives of others, and our environment.
Because we value the development of pupils’ imaginative and creative dimensions as well as their characters. Through a broad curriculum and wide range of co-curricular activities, pupils discover the important balance between creative and logical thinking. These opportunities are fundamental to ensuring your son or daughter discovers their hidden gifts, developing a sense of individuality and a confidence in their own abilities.
To be and to become the very best of who we are, by bravely examining and discovering the personal beliefs and faiths that will guide us through our lives.
Because we believe that essential life skills are often best taught outside of the classroom, balancing an academic education. Through a wide-ranging co-curricular programme, we offer every child the chance to participate, perform and lead in the fields of their choice. In a competitive world these opportunities are fundamental to ensuring your son or daughter develops essential life skills and an ambition for life.
