Truro School's Sixth Form is a strong community of students who are ready to learn, grow, develop and flourish together. The leading co-educational A-Level provider in Cornwall, we combine an excellent academic environment with small class sizes, extended learning opportunities, academic extensions, weekly clinics, personal mentor and supra-curricular activities.
Our new Sixth Form Diploma offers a guided framework of exciting opportunities within supra-curricular, personal growth and leadership and service, built around our core A-Level offering.
It is designed to be a choice-driven, well-supported and bespoke framework that empowers students to develop skills of value beyond schooling or qualifications and to be able to evidence their achievements and development better.
A-Level success remains at the core of the Sixth Form journey. Still, it has never been more important to ensure that young adults develop values and skills beyond their academic qualifications and in a way that supports ambition, success and wellbeing for students' futures beyond school.
As we look ahead to the next academic year, we look forward to welcoming you on the first step of your Sixth Form journey. Like those before you, you will be given the individual guidance and support to thrive, providing the springboard to your future.
Here at Truro School, we believe that, whilst our excellent examination results and university outcomes speak for themselves, they should only be the culmination of a memorable two years that help you develop as a well-rounded individual. That is why our Sixth Form delivers excellent academic standards alongside a personalised support network and innovative life skills programme with a strong focus on leadership and employability skills to provide students with a truly ‘balanced’ education.
We believe that studying A-Levels shouldn’t mean you have to give up your other interests. Balance is important and co-curricular activities play a vital role in preparing students for the pressures of the exam room, as well as providing improved wellbeing and mental toughness.
The aim of the Truro School Sixth Form is to provide students with a balanced and varied education; one that combines a strong academic environment with a caring environment underpinned by a strong support network.
To truly help you be the best that you can be, and to fully prepare you for life after A-Levels, our Sixth Form Diploma focuses on character development outside of the classroom too.
Every student who passes through our Sixth Form leaves a mark on our community and it is through these additional programmes and the constant buzz of events and activities that our students really develop an identity and skillset to prepare them for the challenges of adult life.

Curiosity to always want to discover and learn more, academically and more widely too.
Because we believe that academic excellence is an important part of human excellence. Every child is an individual and we celebrate and develop their uniqueness, helping them to become an independent learner and encouraging each child to explore, understand and cultivate their talent and abilities, whatever they may be.
Compassion to understand and champion the needs of others, in our community and beyond.
Because our mission challenges us to be a vibrant community which enables people to live their lives to the full and transform society for the better. Located in the heart of Cornwall, our distinctive, serene location supports the development of balanced, unpretentious and reflective children who understand their role as global citizens.
Confidence to build resilience by learning from both successes and failures alike.
Because we want every pupil to be comfortable in their own skin, celebrating the uniqueness of each individual in the school community. Through drama, presenting and public speaking opportunities, as well as appearing in productions and concerts, pupils learn key communication skills and gain the confidence to prosper in the real world.
Creativity to be imaginative in how we express ourselves and approach new challenges.
Because we value the development of pupils’ imaginative and creative dimensions as well as their characters. Through a broad curriculum and wide range of co-curricular activities, pupils discover the important balance between creative and logical thinking. These opportunities are fundamental to ensuring your son or daughter discovers their hidden gifts, developing a sense of individuality and a confidence in their own abilities.
Courage to enjoy becoming the very best of who we are, with integrity and ambition.
Because we believe that essential life skills are often best taught outside of the classroom, balancing an academic education. Through a wide-ranging co-curricular programme, we offer every child the chance to participate, perform and lead in the fields of their choice. In a competitive world these opportunities are fundamental to ensuring your son or daughter develops essential life skills and an ambition for life.
