10.10.2025 Senior Bulletin

Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

This week has been a vibrant celebration of all that makes Truro School special: leadership, confidence, creativity, exploration, and a deep sense of community.

Saturday’s Open Day was a proud moment, as pupils from across the school welcomed families with warmth and enthusiasm. Acting as tour guides and ambassadors, they shared their experiences with confidence and genuine pride, helping visitors discover the spirit and values of Truro School.

Our week started with our Senior Prefect Team receiving leadership training from Intent. The group embraced the opportunity to develop their confidence, collaboration, and communication skills. These pupils will play a vital role in shaping the school and being a voice for the student body, and it was inspiring to see them step into their roles with such enthusiasm and commitment.

Beyond the classroom, learning has taken exciting forms. Our Year 13 Geology students travelled to North Somerset for an intensive three-day fieldwork trip, exploring a range of geological formations and applying their classroom learning to real-world environments. Meanwhile, another group of pupils ventured to Nice, where they immersed themselves in the French language, culture, and history. The trip was a rich and memorable experience, bringing their studies to life and deepening their global understanding.

Creativity has also flourished, with our Sixth Form Drama students performing their devised pieces to appreciative audiences. Their originality, teamwork, and expressive storytelling were a testament to their dedication and artistic flair.

Today’s Charity Day has been a joyful and meaningful highlight. We are proud of the pupils who led Chapel this week, speaking with passion and clarity about the importance of our two school charities, All We Can and the Newquay Food Bank. Their leadership and empathy were deeply moving and reminded us of the power of pupil voice in shaping our community. A heartfelt thank you to all pupils who brought in food donations and contributed to the fundraising efforts. The Own Clothes Day was enjoyed by many, and the money raised for All We Can will make a real difference.

From leadership development and charitable action to global learning and artistic expression, this week has truly embodied the spirit of Truro School, where pupils are encouraged to grow, give back, and embrace every opportunity to learn.

Wishing you a restful weekend,

Mrs Emma Ellison

Assistant Head (Director of Studies)

The Bubblegum Tree - Bookings are now LIVE!

Burrell Theatre | November 19-22, 2025.

Secrets, spies, and a bubble-gum tree that could change everything.

Truro School drama department is proud to produce the second ever production of Jon Welch’s The Bubblegum Tree.

Berlin 1973. A divided Germany. The height of the Cold War. In East Berlin, an ambitious young choreographer plans to mount a ballet production that will amaze the world and prove to the corrupt West that East German culture is thriving and relevant in the successful Communist regime.  Rehearsals begin, and a ground-breaking plan for a performance in West Berlin is hatched.  But there are forces at work that cannot be ignored – the Stasi secret police are listening in, and in West Berlin, a group of reckless schoolkids are hatching a foolhardy plan that could jeopardise not only the project, but the lives of the dancers involved.

Suggested age 11+

Please note that this production includes themes and language that reflect homophobic banter, threats of violence, and misogynistic attitudes. These elements are presented to explore and challenge such behaviours, but some scenes or dialogue may be distressing to some audiences.
