Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

It has been another vibrant week at Truro School, filled with inspiring performances, exciting collaborations, and opportunities for engagement.

A Show to Remember: Chicago

This week, our school community has been treated to the incredible talent on display in our production of Chicago. The cast and crew delivered a breathtaking performance, showcasing not only their acting skills but also an extraordinary range of singing, dancing and musical abilities. The energy, commitment, and creativity of our pupils shone brightly on stage, reminding us all of the power of the arts to bring a community together. Thank you to the staff and pupils who worked tirelessly to bring this production to life.

What Does Partnership Mean at Truro School?

As a school that values connection and collaboration, we proudly follow the Schools Partnership Alliance framework. This approach allows us to lay strong foundations and embed meaningful partnerships.

At Truro School, a partnership represents an ongoing, collaborative relationship aligned around a shared vision. Each partnership is built on mutual respect and commitment, offering benefits that may vary depending on the nature of the relationship. Whether we are sharing resources or engaging in long-term collaborations, our goal is to ensure that these partnerships positively impact our pupils and the wider community.

We focus on four main types of partnerships:

Connection – Sharing our resources and facilities with partners and organisations. Our swimming pool, sports facilities and knowledgeable staff are a great example here.

Collaboration – Addressing shared needs or opportunities by pooling resources with one or more schools. Great work is happening in sharing resources in staff training in maths and DT for example as well as ongoing drama, dance and music collaborations.

Alliance – Broad, multi-school collaborations with ambitious goals and ongoing commitments. Sharing of sports facilities, expertise in drama and technical resources and coaching expertise benefits many in the local community.

Integration – Long-term partnerships involving diverse stakeholders, ensuring all children thrive in and beyond school. These are more formal in approach, for example, the school and Truro Cathedral’s partnership providing world-class music for the wider community. Saints Southwest, Truro Fencing and Team Bath Netball are all formally embedded into our school.

Our partnerships are regularly reviewed to ensure they remain mutually beneficial, evolving to meet the needs of all involved. These relationships enrich our school community, and we are proud to be part of such meaningful connections.

Friends of Truro School (FTS)

One valuable partnership at Truro School is the relationship with our parents. This week also saw the annual AGM for the FTS, an integral part of our school community. Open to all parents, guardians, and carers, the FTS plays a vital role in enhancing school life for our children. We are all immensely grateful for the time the committee invest and new committee members are always welcome. Please contact the Chair, Lynette, or Vice Chair, Andrew, via [email protected] to find out how you can contribute to this wonderful group.

Somerset College, South Africa Exchange

Our annual collaboration with Somerset College in South Africa allows interested students to apply for one of the places on the exchange programme. Currently, we are delighted to have three students from Somerset College here with us in Truro School’s Lower Sixth. They provide another global aspect to our school community alongside all our wonderful boarders and day pupils. Current 5th Years will have an assembly in the new year to explain the process for any who are interested, with the exchange taking place next July to South Africa and the return leg here during November.

Thank you for your continued support in making Truro School a thriving, dynamic, and connected community.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Zoe Jobling

Deputy Head (Co-Curriculum & Partnerships)
