24.04.2026 Senior Bulletin

Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

It is wonderful to see everyone returning to school with such enthusiasm, helped no doubt by the excellent weather. We worked hard over the Easter break to ensure the school was ready to welcome everyone back, and it has been very pleasing to see such a positive start to the term.

This week, our focus has been on ensuring that everyone has returned ready to learn, with clear routines and support in place. Next week, the focus will be Respect in Action.

The Summer Term is always a busy and exciting one. Alongside more outdoor opportunities, we are also supporting our exam year groups in Years 11 and 13 as they begin their formal examinations. Looking ahead, we have a range of exciting activities and events across the school. As always, these will be listed in the School Calendar, but you may wish to note the following dates:

• Friday 1 May – Charity Day (home clothes with a £2 donation)
• Monday 4 May – Early May Bank Holiday (school closed)
• Monday 25 May – Friday 29 May – Half Term
• Saturday 20 June – Truro School Community Day
• Tuesday 23 June – Sports Day
• Friday 3 July – Speech Day & End of Term (1pm finish)

Our Enterprise programme is also progressing well, with increasing numbers of events and bookings. A great example is the upcoming Comedy Club featuring Marcus Brigstocke on 1 May in the Burrell – you can view posters about this and the other events at the end of the Bulletin. Events such as these help raise the profile of the school, strengthen community connections, and generate income that supports facilities, opportunities and wider investment for pupils.

We are also looking ahead to next year and to the development of our next five-year strategic plan. While the wider economic outlook remains uncertain, we continue to plan with confidence, guided by the school’s priorities and values.

Finally, a reminder that any queries regarding financial support or bursaries can be sent to [email protected]. We warmly welcome confidential conversations with families who may need support.

Despite being a short week, it has been a significant one, and an excellent start to the summer term.

FTS & Beach Guardian Beach Clean

Friends of Truro School (FTS) are delighted to be partnering with Beach Guardian for a community beach clean at Fistral Beach, Newquay.

Join us on Sunday, 10th May for a relaxed and rewarding day by the sea. Bring a picnic to enjoy from 12:00pm, with the beach clean starting at 2:00pm.

This is a wonderful opportunity to support our environment, connect with the school community, and help keep our coastline clean.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Sick or fit, bring your kit

This is a reminder that pupils should always have trainers with them for all games lessons. This is in case we switch to wet-weather games or they move from the fields to the astro.

If pupils are off games due to illness or injury, they should still bring their games kit into school. The PE team will modify what they are asked to do where appropriate and include them in the lesson within any necessary limitations.

The exception to this would be if they have an injury that means it is not practical for them to get changed.

Thank you for your understanding.

Reminder for Parents: The Wellbeing Hub

Truro School offers parents, carers and pupils free access to The Wellbeing Hub, an expert-led online resource supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of young people from Year 7 to Year 13.
