02.04.2026 Senior Bulletin

Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

As NASA’s Artemis II rocket took off into space last night it reached speeds of 10,000mph heading for the moon and we watched through our TV screens in awe and wonder. More than fifty years on from the last Apollo mission that took humans to the far side of the moon, history was in the making once more.

As School Chaplain here, it is a joy to see every pupil each week making their own history through cherished ‘wow’ moments in their day. The last few weeks I’ve seen children blossom with confidence as they took to the stage for Year 3’s Ye‑hah! Show, Year 8’s Shakespeare Festival and Year 9 and 10’s dramatic Macbeth; our musicians filled the cathedral with joy at their gala concert, and our sporting treasures were celebrated in our seniors’ sports gala. To round up the week, our newest Year 12 ACHE Mentors had their graduation ceremony last night, celebrating their hard work and dedication to care for the younger pupils in our school. A week full of ‘wow’ moments, building confidence, shaping lives – it has been a blessed week indeed.

As a school, we have been journeying through Lent during this half term – seeking out #40daysofgoodthings as we go. Here we are in the last few days of Lent, Holy Week. To step into the story, our Boarders created their own (edible!) Holy Week bag, Prep pupils explored how we might ‘taste and see that God is good’, Pre-Prep had a visit from a very egg-cited Easter Rooster, and all our Seniors walked down to Truro Methodist Church (TMC) today to explore what may have seemed impossible become possible, using our instinct as well as our knowledge to to seek out truths that help us in our lives.

Today is Maundy Thursday in the Christian calendar, the day we remember Jesus shared in the Passover meal with his friends in the upper room – his Last Supper. It is good to be reminded of the shared history between Christianity and Judaism and how important it is to celebrate faith festivals of all the major world faiths that remind us of the goodness of God and of the world around us, keeping us grounded and thankful for the blessings we can find each day.

I wish you all Easter blessings of hope, joy and love. May you enjoy many ‘good things’ this holiday and savour the ‘wow’ moments as we continue to explore how the impossible can become possible when we find the confidence to believe…..

Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

Mrs Helen Byrne

Sick or fit, bring your kit

This is a reminder that pupils should always have trainers with them for all games lessons. This is in case we switch to wet-weather games or they move from the fields to the astro.

If pupils are off games due to illness or injury, they should still bring their games kit into school. The PE team will modify what they are asked to do where appropriate and include them in the lesson within any necessary limitations.

The exception to this would be if they have an injury that means it is not practical for them to get changed.

Thank you for your understanding.

Parking in Residential Areas

We have recently received a complaint from residents in nearby residential areas regarding the use of their private spaces during school pick‑up times.

Please refrain from using private driveways, disabled parking bays, or residential parking spaces.

Please also note that Waterloo Road is signposted as ‘permits only parking’. Parents are requested not to drop off or collect from this area.

We kindly ask all families to treat our neighbours with kindness and respect. Thank you.

Reminder for Parents: The Wellbeing Hub

Truro School offers parents, carers and pupils free access to The Wellbeing Hub, an expert-led online resource supporting the mental health and emotional wellbeing of young people from Year 7 to Year 13.
