Dear Parents & Carers,
As we arrive at the mid-term break, I take this opportunity to congratulate your children on a very busy and successful first half of term.
Tempting as it is to give you a lowdown of all that has occurred, I fear that reading it would take up most of your half-term holiday. By way of illustration, we enjoyed a visit from Mr Simons (the Truro School Prep Head elect), new pupils and prospective parents visiting the school, interviews, trips to the Senior School, Governors’ meetings, French cookery activities, athletics meetings (for Years 3, 4, 5 and 6), football (Year 2), the tech run, dress rehearsal and spectacular performance of the Year 4 play ‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’, a sustainability meeting, the next tranche of coast-to-coast cycle rides and kayaking, the Reception children visiting Gwennap Pit and the Prep School Grandparents’ Tea Party: and all of this in the last five days alone!
Running parallel to this has been ‘Well-Being Week’. Miss Ryder and Mrs Millne, along with the entire staff team, have hosted activities including wellness breathing, community singing, journalling, mindfulness colouring, physical exercise, Pilates, walks and gardening. Of course, the aim is not to tick off each activity only to forget it, but to embed routines and strategies that will be beneficial throughout the year.

Finally, and as we approach the weekend, I share with you this lovely poem by Alfred Grant Walton entitled ‘The World We Make. We regularly remind the children of the importance of appreciating the world around us; our friendships, the opportunities that come our way and the everyday things that are so easily overlooked. Furthermore, we are acutely aware that our lives are reflections of the choices we make. This sentiment is summed up rather neatly in these 20 short lines, and, in terms of well-being and happiness, I hope that these words bring you as much joy as they have to me.

Royal Cornwall Show - An Invitation
We are delighted to invite parents, families, and friends of Truro School to a drinks reception at the Royal Cornwall Show on Saturday 6 June, from 1.00pm to 3.00pm, at the Truro School stand (416).
It will be a lovely opportunity to meet and chat with members of the Truro School team, including the Head, the Head of Prep, and our Incoming Head of Prep.
If you’re unable to join us for the drinks reception, please do still feel free to drop by the stand at any time during the Show – we would love to see you.
Save the Date: Summer Fayre
We are delighted to announce that our Truro School Prep Summer Fayre will be held on Saturday, 13th June 2026.
Happily, this year, the event will also tie in with the Prep’s 90th Anniversary Celebrations.

You can find the weekly Pentominoes challenge HERE every week in the Notices section of the Online School Bulletin.
To access the weekly challenge, you will need to click on the VIEW option below to bring up the weekly challenge.
These can then be printed at home and enjoyed. Please note that they need to be printed off as A3, 100% size (not fit to scale).
If you do not have an A3 printer at home, there are ready-printed copies in the Prep Reception Office that your children can collect on a Friday and bring home.
Finally, hints on how to solve the puzzle will be available each week. These will also be here in the Notices section should you get stuck!

Half Term Multi-Sport Activity Camp
If you’re looking for childcare options this half-term, the ever-popular Multi-Sport Activity Camp is back at the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre next week.
Running from Tuesday to Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm, the camp offers full-day childcare to help make the working week that little bit easier.
Packed with energy and excitement, activities include dodgeball, bubble football, trampolining, nerf wars and pool sessions with inflatables — guaranteed to keep children entertained and send them home happily exhausted!
Ages: 6–12 years
Cost: £36 per day
Dates: 26, 27, 28 & 29 May
