27.06.2025 Prep Bulletin

Dear Parents & Carers,

Another week, another raft of adventures: Year 2 on a beach trip, Year 3 at Daubuz Moor, Nursery Forest School day, Mrs Knight and the Goblin Green Power race team at Perranporth airfield and Mrs Ashdown, along with local artist Tony Minnion, hosting a Year 5 screen printing workshop. Governors’ meetings, sessions for a raft of new pupils and several visits from prospective parents have also kept us busy!

Of course, the ‘mane’ event has been the culmination of Year 6’s preparation for their production of ‘The Lion King’. Taking place in the Burrell Theatre at Truro School on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, with an additional Wednesday ‘matinee’ for the Prep School, all three audiences were treated to a feast of dramatic talent and entertainment. The production was superb, and such was the confidence and composure of the cast, it was difficult to comprehend that the performers were just 10 and 11 years old. I take this opportunity to congratulate the entire cast and the army of staff and volunteers who made the production such a success. Particular thanks go to Bex Knight and Jane Ashdown for the set and props, to Maria Eva as musical director and of course to the dynamic duo of Sue Rowe and Annabel Gregory, who were the driving force behind the entire project.

Turning to our school assemblies, we have continued our focus upon the topic of ‘choices and consequences’, this week exploring how the decisions we make may influence the future. Robert Frost’s ‘The Road Not Taken’ (a poem that we will return to next week) provided us with the opportunity to explore our choices and their potential impact on our later lives.

Looking to the future, next week provides a number of opportunities for you to join us here at school. Monday brings the Summer Concert, which will take place from 2:30pm, and Speech Day begins at 2.00pm on Thursday. Both events will take place in the Sports Hall; please see the Bulletin calendar and your weekly Clarion emails for further information.

Before that, I hope that we might see many of you at this Saturday’s Truro School Family Day (Family Day – Truro School) and, whatever your plans, I wish you a very happy weekend with your lovely children.

With every good wish,

Rob Morse

Summer Reading Challenge

We are pleased to introduce the Summer Reading Challenge 2025 with the theme: Story Garden. The scheme launches on July 5th in libraries across the country. Please visit https://summerreadingchallenge.org.uk/ for more information.

“The Summer Reading Challenge continues to be a bright light in what has recently been an uncertain picture of children’s reading. Story Garden will create magical spaces where children can explore and be curious, combining the joy of reading with the proven wellbeing benefits of connecting with nature. Libraries will be hosting inspiring events and activities where nature and wildlife will take children on adventures, and plants will inspire their next story. We’re particularly excited to be working with Dapo Adeola, whose wonderful illustrations will help bring these adventures to life.”
