Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
Another week has flown by and with it the customary raft of activities and events both in and out of the classroom.
Whilst we have revelled in gymnastics, football and hockey events and the Christmas trees have arrived, the highlight of the week was, without doubt, the Year 5 production of ‘Christmas is Forever’.
We have known for some time that there is a rich vein of dramatic talent flowing through the school and Year 5 treated the audience to a most entertaining hour of theatre and comedy. I take this opportunity to thank Mrs Gregory and her team and every child in Year 5 for such an enjoyable evening.
With our eyes turning towards Christmas, rehearsals for end-of-term events have gathered pace and I take this opportunity to remind you that the weekly year-group Clarion messages should be your first port of call for all diary events. Indeed, we look forward to welcoming you, as parents and families, at the forthcoming EYFS and Key Stage I Nativity plays, and at next Thursday’s Prep School Celtic Christmas Concert (which will take place at Truro Methodist Church). Every child from Nursery through to Year 6 will be involved in one of these events and I do hope that you will be able to join us.

Looking further down the line, you are, of course, welcome to join the full Truro School community for a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols in Truro School Cathedral on the 16th of December.
Returning to the present and as promised in last week’s Bulletin, this week’s Prep School assembly focused on the importance of standing up for what is right. We took time to explore what makes it difficult to do this and the strategies that can be employed to help. I will not go into detail but the message is best summed up by this week’s quote of the week: Strong people stand up for themselves. The strongest people stand up for others.
Turning to staff news, Maggie Issaka, our Assistant Head (Pastoral) and Designated Safeguarding Lead will retire at Easter after 27 years at Truro School Prep. There will be plenty of opportunities for us to formally celebrate Maggie’s contribution to Truro School but I am sure that you will join me in thanking her for all that she has done throughout this time and to wish her a very happy retirement when it arrives in March 2025.
In terms of seeking a replacement, we are currently advertising on a local, national and international scale and interviews are scheduled to take place before the end of term. I will, of course, keep you up to speed with any developments.
Finally, my thanks go to all who have already contributed goods to the food bank collections. Christmastime reminds me of how fortunate we are to be part of this amazing community and, conversely, that there are so many people who are less fortunate than us.
If you can spare some tinned and dry produce (see the Notices Section below for more information), I am sure that it will make an enormous difference to a great number of families around the county.
With my thanks as always and very best wishes.
Rob Morse

Truro School Prep Celtic Christmas Concert
I write to cordially invite you to celebrate Christmas with us through our musical performances in our Celtic Christmas concert on Thursday 5th December at Truro Methodist church.
Each year group has worked hard to learn a selection of songs and pieces that represent the seven Celtic nations. Several of the songs sung part in the language itself.
All pupils in Years 3 to 6 will perform alongside the Prep Orchestra and Choir.
The concert will begin at 18.30 on Thursday 5th December and we ask that pupils arrive (fed and watered) at the main doors of Truro Methodist Church between 17.50 and 18.15.
A member of staff will be on hand to welcome them. The concert will last for approximately one hour and we so hope that you will join us. At the end of the concert please collect your children from the form tutors as per instructions that we’ll give out on the night.
If for any reason your child is unable to take part in this event please will you email Ms Renshaw ([email protected]) before Monday 2nd December 2024.

Suggested Donation Items:
Tinned meat (such as cooked ham, chicken, meatballs, curry or chilli)
Tinned meat pies

It should be noted that they do not require any Christmas items, so NO mince pies, puddings or variety biscuit boxes, please!
The children have been keen to work on being the donation champions and have already started collecting donations in their class boxes.
There are thermometers to show how much they have collected between the Year 3 classrooms and on the G6 window.
The class that collects the most items by Friday, 13th December will be celebrated as our Donation Champions.
Thank you again for your kindness and support. Together, we can make a real difference and bring a brighter holiday season to those in need.
