Dear Parents & Carers,
Whilst it is clear that everyone enjoyed the long bank holiday weekend, it has been a pleasure to return to action here at Truro School Prep, and we have done our best to squeeze a full week’s events and activities into the past four days.
In addition to regular lessons, games, activities and after-school clubs, we witnessed the start of the Year 5 kayaking programme, rehearsals continue apace for Year 4 and Year 6 productions, Year 5 carried out a beach clean at Perran Sands (as part of the Belerion Award), and we have welcomed our customary raft of visitors, including vocalist and composer Emily Barden.
Tuesday was given over to World AIMS Day, and we took the opportunity to explore the concept of ‘children’s rights’ and the fact that many children exist without the basic rights that we, ourselves, take for granted (such as food, water, health, education, safety and hygiene).
This focus upon the wider world provided the opportunity to explore the fact that there are so many different regions, countries, cultures, religions and beliefs, and that one does not need to travel around the world to find them, as many of them exist right here.
We revisited the fact that we are all different and that such diversity is fascinating and to be celebrated. This, in turn, allowed us to revisit our work on tolerance, acceptance and respect, and to think about how everyone benefits from an open and interested approach to diversity. This included a few hints on how we can work to develop our respect for others and to develop our interest in things that are new or unfamiliar; to grow and mature as individuals, to widen our friendship groups and to open our minds.

As ever, we concluded that it is up to us as to how we react to and engage with such circumstances; as we all know, ‘we are free to make our choices, but not from the consequences of those choices’.
Finally, and on a totally unrelated matter, it has been an absolute pleasure to witness the children enjoying the lovely weather this week. We will keep our fingers crossed for further sunshine and warm weather, and I take this opportunity to remind you of the importance of sunblock, water bottles and school hats. With the children enjoying clubs, activities, sports and break times outdoors (lucky them!), these items remain central to their protection and enjoyment.
I hope the sun shines on you all this weekend and that we might see you at the FTS beach clean at Fistral on Sunday.
With every good wish,
Rob Morse

Grandparents' Afternoon 2026
Dear Families,
A reminder that sign-up for this event will close on Monday 11th May. We kindly ask that you register using the link below to allow us to cater for all of our guests.
We are delighted to invite the grandparents of all pupils in Years 3 to 6 at Truro School Prep to our annual Grandparents’ Afternoon.
This special event will take place on Friday, 22nd May 2026, and is a wonderful opportunity for our pupils to share their school experience with loved ones.
The afternoon will begin with arrival at Truro School Prep from 1.30pm for a 1.45pm start, and will include a short welcome and musical performance, followed by time spent together enjoying a tour of the school and a traditional cream tea.
The event will conclude at 3.15pm.
Further details will be shared with those who register. Sign-up will be via online form HERE.
We kindly ask that this be completed by the 11th of May to allow us to finalise catering requirements.
We understand that not all pupils will have a grandparent who is able to attend this year. Please be assured that we will be mindful of this and ensure all children are well supported and will enjoy a fun, off-timetable afternoon of activities.
With every good wish,
Rob Morse

If easier, awards may also be left at the Senior Reception Office. If applicable, please kindly ensure the award has been engraved prior to its return.
Many thanks in advance.
Kindest regards
