Dear Parents & Carers,
I must begin this week’s missive by reiterating my message of thanks to all who helped to make last Friday’s FTS Christmas Fayre such a wonderful occasion. It was an absolute pleasure to see so many children and adults happily engaged – in spite of the weather (which was quite extraordinary).
The wet and windy weather continued at the start of this week, and the gusts were so strong on Tuesday that they blew over the Christmas tree situated not outside, but inside Treliske House! At this dark and damp time of year, it is all too easy to become somewhat melancholy and maudlin, but I am delighted to be able to deliver two fillips which I hope will put a smile on your face and some joy in your heart.
The first is simply the return of the sunshine and blue sky, which has undoubtedly raised spirits amongst everyone here at Truro School Prep. The second, and more importantly, are your children, whose enthusiasm and zest for life have been an absolute blessing. Come rain or shine, they have positively engaged with so many activities, and their energy and enjoyment have been a joy to behold.
In addition to the regular curriculum activities, they have welcomed visitors and prospective pupils, been involved in two EYFS Nativities, two Key Stage I Nativities, the Prep School Twelve Days of Christmas Concert, the House Christmas Song competition, sports matches, tournaments and swimming galas… and all in the past five days alone!
Amidst this hive of activity, it is all too easy to be swept along and forget the significance of enjoying each moment and day. Tying in with last week’s theme of Advent (and waiting), we have looked at the importance of taking the time to stand back and appreciate all that we have, in the hope that we can enjoy it all the more.

One of my favourite poems is an old English verse entitled Take Time (copied below), and during our assemblies this week, we spent some time unpacking the messages within:
Take time to think:
it is the source of power.
Take time to read;
it is the foundation of wisdom.
Take time to play;
it is the secret of staying young.
Take time to be quiet;
it is the opportunity to see God.
Take time to be aware;
it is the opportunity to help others.
Take time to love and be loved;
it is God’s greatest gift.
Take time to laugh;
it is the music of the soul.
Take time to be friendly;
it is the road to happiness.
Take time to dream;
it is what the future is made of.
Take time to pray;
it is the greatest power on earth.
I hope that you all enjoy a wonderful weekend, full of festive activities and cheer, and with the opportunity to ‘take time’ for yourselves and your families.
With season’s greetings and every good wish,
Rob Morse

A final reminder that we will be taking part in the Santas on the Run Schools Challenge on 17th December 2025, raising money for Children’s Hospice South West.
Please help us raise vital funds for families supported by their 3 hospices across the South West.
The FTS Team is asking for donations ahead of the event and would be grateful for donations here.
Christmas Cards
Don’t forget to drop your Christmas cards into the Prep post box (in the foyer of Treliske House) and the Pre-Prep post box for delivery on Tuesday, 16th December.
Please write the recipient child’s name and class on the front of the envelope.
Flu Clinics
As you may have heard, there have been flu outbreaks around Cornwall, and flu is predicted to be particularly virulent this year.
Kernow Health, who ran the nasal vaccinations in our school earlier this term, would like you to be aware that they will be running flu clinics at various locations across Cornwall in early/mid-December, by appointment only.
If this is something your family/friends may find useful, please contact Kernow Health directly via 01872 221105 or [email protected] for further information.
Kernow Health is hoping the uptake in Cornwall can be significantly increased to reduce the likelihood of further flu outbreaks, especially around Christmas.
