20.03.2026 Senior Bulletin

Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

Respect. A word that sits at the heart of communities that thrive. Next week, our Senior School focus is respect: respect for others, respect for ourselves, and respect for our learning environment. In classrooms, corridors and during co-curricular activities, we will be inviting our school community to show respect in the everyday moments, through a simple ‘please’ or ‘thank you,’ holding a door open, or choosing kindness when it matters most. Each week, we will shine a light on a whole-school focus, encouraging pupils to take personal responsibility and make positive contributions that strengthen our school community.

Respect is an ever-present theme within our PSHE lessons, where pupils are supported to think carefully about their responsibilities towards others. Our School Council representatives play a vital role in this, advocating for their peers and working to bring about positive change across the school. Of course, we know that respect is not always present in every interaction. When issues do arise, it is our responsibility as teachers to challenge, guide and educate, helping young people to understand the impact their choices have on others. We continue to develop a range of ways for pupils to share their voice, and these avenues give them the confidence and tools to advocate for themselves and their peers.

This week, I had the privilege of joining our ACHE Mentors at an information session on supporting bereaved young people. The session was delivered by Penhaligon’s Friends, an amazing Cornish charity that supports children and families during the most difficult times in their lives. Our ACHE Mentors will use this training to support peers within our school who may be facing challenges. They are excellent role models and truly embody our school values of courage and compassion. More information about the work of Penhaligon’s Friends can be found here.

Truro School in Sunshine

Next week is Charity Week, and through Chapel, our pupils will learn about the important work of our chosen charities: The Red Crescent and Bolenowe Animal Sanctuary. Though different in focus, both reflect a kindness and compassion that we see and nurture in our pupils: a respect for all and the journeys they have been on. I continue to be immensely proud of the ways in which our young people strive to make a positive difference within our school community.

It has been lovely to see some sunshine this week, and our pupils have enjoyed being outdoors in our beautiful grounds. Fingers crossed it continues into the weekend for us all to enjoy.

Deputy Head (Pastoral)
