Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

This week, the co-curricular team led an assembly on the importance of co-curricular life at Truro School, celebrating how activities beyond the classroom (sport, music, drama, and outdoor education) are vital to pupils’ overall development and well-being. We were treated to a performance by Silver Sax, a student-led music group launching their debut album on Spotify. A brilliant example of initiative and creativity.

Pupils were reminded that co-curricular activities are not optional extras, but essential for building resilience, confidence, and connection. Research shows that pupils involved in such activities perform better academically, experience less stress, and feel a stronger sense of belonging. As exam season begins, 5th Year pupils and Upper Sixth students (Year 11 and 13) were encouraged to maintain balance by keeping up physical activity and creative outlets to support their focus and mental health.

Pupils were also reminded of our co-curricular expectations:

Lower School: 3 clubs per week
Middle School: 2 clubs per week
Sixth Form: 1 club per week

With 122 clubs on offer this term, there’s something for everyone, or pupils can even create something new, just as Silver Sax did.

The assembly closed with a reflection on the benefits of connecting with nature and a drama performance from The Importance of Being Earnest, with a special mention for Celia’s role as director. Awards and commendations were also celebrated.

At Truro School, we continue to champion whole-person education, encouraging every pupil to move, create, connect, and thrive.

Mrs Zoe Jobling

Deputy Head (Co-Curricular and Partnerships)

Bringing Cakes Into School

As a school, we love cakes and welcome support of charitable causes, including cake sales. However, we are also mindful that for some members of our community, certain ingredients can pose serious health risks.

To ensure everyone can enjoy these events safely, we ask that any cakes or baked goods brought into school – whatever the occasion – follow the guidelines set out in our risk assessment. Below are the five key steps to follow. If you would like to see the full risk assessment, please email our Operations Director at cwf@truroschool.com.

It cannot be home-made.

It must be in its original packaging, which must show the ingredient listing.

It must not contain nuts.

Before opening the packaging, a teacher or member of staff must check if any pupils in the form/class have food allergies or intolerances.

Food must not be shared outside the form/class.

Thank you.

Summer Uniform

Our Summer Uniform is now in place, therefore:

Pupils and Sixth Form students may come to school without a blazer or jacket. If they do still wear it to School, they are not required to wear their jacket/blazer around the school.

Pupils and Sixth Form students must follow all other uniform regulations as normal, and must be smart and professional at all times, including ties for boys and shirts tucked in.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Summer Term Clubs and Activities
