Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
Welcome back to the start of another busy and exciting half-term. There is so much to look forward to in the coming weeks, and I hope everyone returned feeling refreshed after the break.
I had the pleasure of catching a glimpse of rehearsals for The Bubblegum Tree earlier this week, and it’s already looking fantastic. A huge well done to all involved in bringing it to life. Do make sure you get your tickets here before it’s too late; it promises to be a wonderful production.
It’s also been great to see the stories and photos from the recent school trips. What a fantastic range of experiences our pupils enjoyed over the half-term. My thanks go to all colleagues who supported with the planning, coordination, and safeguarding that make these opportunities possible.
As part of my role on the school’s Sustainability Committee, I continue to be inspired by the breadth of work happening across our community to drive meaningful environmental change. From our recently renewed Green Flag with Distinction, to the ongoing efforts around waste reduction, transport safety, and sustainable procurement, there’s much to celebrate. Our pupils’ passion and staff leadership in this area are making a real difference. Thank you to everyone involved.
The Music Project continues, with the fixed crane departing before half-term and scaffolding mostly coming down. You can see clearly what the finished building will look like. Today, the external fire escape was delivered, which required the heavier crane to lift, and progress continues well. We have had tours of the site with pupils and staff to show the works and activities underway. The time-lapse video (viewable here) is an exciting watch which shows our progress to date.
This half term, the committee has also been working closely with local partners, including Jayne Kirkham MP and Penair School, to explore improvements to school transport and road safety around St Clement’s Hill. We’ll continue to update you as those discussions progress. As a quick reminder: if you notice any transport concerns on site, please contact our Compliance Officer via [email protected]. For anything relating to road safety or traffic matters outside the school site, please report these to either the highways team at Cornwall Council or through 101 if there’s a risk to pupils or staff directly.
Thank you once again to all staff and pupils for your continued support, enthusiasm, and care for our community and environment.
Mr Kieran Topping
Chief Operating Officer
