Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
This past week has been a wonderfully busy and energising one across Truro School.
On Saturday, we were delighted to welcome prospective pupils to sit our entrance assessments. Candidates completed a series of papers designed to showcase their academic strengths, followed by a fun group activity that encouraged collaboration, creativity and problem‑solving. It was inspiring to see our prospective pupils embrace the challenge with such positivity and confidence.
Monday evening saw our Year 11 families join us for the Sixth Form Options and Subject Consultation event. It was a pleasure to meet so many parents and pupils as they begin shaping their pathways for the next stage of their education. As a reminder:
Sixth Form Options for our current Year 11 pupils are due on Monday, 3 February
GCSE Options for our current Year 9 pupils are due on Tuesday, 11 February
I also had the opportunity this week to visit the new exams office with our Examinations Officer and Examinations Assistant, and to see some of the classrooms taking shape in the new Music School. It was wonderful to see how far the building works have progressed, and the exams office, in particular, enjoys a spectacular view across the city and the cathedral.
Year 13 benefited from a valuable PSHE session with Julia Ward from Conscious Wealth, who shared her expertise on personal finance. Her guidance on budgeting, planning and building healthy financial habits will serve our students well as they prepare for life beyond school.
We also wish our U18 netball team every success at the Regional Finals in Bournemouth this Saturday. The whole school community is behind them.
Thank you to everyone who has contributed to such a purposeful and uplifting week. I look forward to the many exciting things still to come this term.
Wishing you a restful and enjoyable weekend.
Mrs Emma Ellison
Assistant Head (Director of Studies)

We look forward to welcoming you to hear more about this exciting opportunity.

School Closure: Parent Feedback
We would really value your feedback on how we communicated and operated during the recent school closure caused by Storm Goretti.
Your thoughts will help us understand what worked well and where we could do better, so that we can continue to improve the way we support and communicate with our school community in the future.
Thank you for taking the time to share your views with us. We will close the Form on Monday.

RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch
The RSPB Big Schools’ Birdwatch is here and runs until 14 February.
We’d love as many pupils as possible to get involved by taking part and helping our local birdlife — they could really do with our support!
If you are feeding birds in school, please remember that sunflower seeds are a great option, as we are a nut-free, allergy-aware site.
How to take part:
Count birds for up to one hour
Only count more than one bird if you can see them at the same time (e.g. two robins visible together = 2)
Do not count repeat visits by the same bird
You may use the Merlin Sound App to help identify birdsong
Find out more here > https://www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/get-ready-for-big-schools-birdwatch
Most importantly — have fun and enjoy being out in nature!
Reminder for Parents: The Wellbeing Hub
As part of our ongoing commitment to pupil mental health and wellbeing, Truro School continues to provide parents, carers and pupils with free access to The Wellbeing Hub – an expert-led resource supporting emotional wellbeing for children and young people, with dedicated content for parents.
The Wellbeing Hub is available to all pupils from Year 7 to Year 13, both in school and at home, and many pupils have already been introduced to the platform through PSHE lessons, with remaining sessions taking place during January.
Parents are warmly encouraged to explore the Hub themselves, and to guide their children towards resources they may find helpful.
*Register via the link in the Parent Portal*
We hope you continue to find The Wellbeing Hub a valuable source of support for your family and welcome your feedback.
