Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
It has been another busy and rewarding week at Truro School, one that has showcased the very best of our community. The Sixth Form Open evening on Tuesday highlighted all that is wonderful about our Sixth Form, with pupils from across the county and beyond, as well as many from our middle school, in attendance.
We were delighted to welcome the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) to Truro School this week. Their visit was a valuable opportunity for us to share the reality and the richness of school life, and the commitment of our pupils, staff, and families. The Head has added a separate message to this bulletin, too, with his thanks.
As the term progresses, the co-curricular life of the school continues to thrive. From music performances and drama rehearsals to sports fixtures and the full range of clubs, it has been inspiring to see pupils embracing opportunities beyond the classroom. Our Year 7s have all participated in their teambuilding day, designed to help them form bonds and tackle challenges together as a team. Our Year 8s went to see King Lear at the Hall for Cornwall this week, which is wonderful preparation for their Shakespeare work that their English teachers have planned for them this year. Our sports teams are competing well in various friendly fixtures and cup match competitions, and our Year 11s have been out completing Geography fieldwork at Boscastle. Competition House meetings took place, where there are many opportunities for all pupils to get involved through participation or leadership opportunities. These experiences not only allow young people to develop their talents and interests but also strengthen the sense of belonging and community that makes Truro School such a special place.
At the heart of this sits our Principles of Excellence for the Co-Curriculum, which guide all that we do beyond the classroom. We are committed to ensuring that every pupil benefits from a rich and balanced programme shaped by the following principles:
Access: Our Co-Curriculum will remain accessible to every child across their full journey through the school.
Wellbeing: Our Co-Curriculum will emphasise the importance of physical and mental health.
Growth: Through our Co-Curriculum, every child will have new experiences and develop new skills, as well as build on current ones.
Support: Our staff will underpin the pupils on their co-curricular journey and be equally committed themselves.
Adventure: Every year, there will be opportunities for every child to choose a co-curricular activity that involves off-site visits and trips (including, where appropriate, overnight).
These principles underpin our belief that co-curricular experiences enrich academic learning and are essential in shaping confident, compassionate, and well-rounded young people.
Thank you once again for your ongoing support – it is always a privilege to work alongside you in helping our pupils flourish.
With warm regards,
Mrs Zoe Jobling

Tour Guides for Open Morning – Saturday 4 October
We’re looking forward to welcoming prospective pupils and parents to our Whole School Open Morning on Saturday 4 October.
Each year, pupils play a key role as guides, sharing their experiences, showing families around, and giving a real flavour of life at Truro School.
Guides receive a Head of Year commendation and Middle School pupils can also count this towards their MiY Portfolio in social and futures literacies. Emails have been sent to all parents with more information.
Please complete this short form if your child is able to attend:
ISI Inspection Update
Dear Parents, Carers, and Guardians
My thanks to all of you, your children, and our staff, for engaging with the ISI inspection this week. It has been robust as one would hope and expect. The formal report will be published in just over a month’s time after ISI’s due processes are completed.
In the meantime, we are unable to share details, but I and my team are very pleased for this community and the exciting journey we are on as a School. I will let you know when the report is published and will encourage you all to read it then.
Best wishes for the weekend ahead.
