23.01.2026 Senior Bulletin

Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

A community is a group of people who choose to support one another and grow together. In my role, I have the privilege of seeing this every day across a wide range of people and contexts, both within our pupil body and equally within our staff community. We support one another through encouragement, collaboration, and a shared commitment to learning; creating an environment in which reflection is encouraged, and individuals can learn openly from experience and from one another. We focus not just on success, but also on taking time to pause and consider, celebrating what has gone well while thoughtfully considering what we might do differently next time.

At Truro School, pupil voice is central to how we grow and develop as a community. We value opportunities for pupils to contribute meaningfully to conversations that help shape school life, and our School Council is an excellent example of this in action. It was a real privilege this week to welcome our Head Boy and Head Girl to the Senior School Leadership Team meeting, where they led a thoughtful discussion informed by feedback from the School Council, which represents pupils from across all year groups. Their contribution will help shape the direction and focus within the school and reflects the maturity, confidence and strong sense of responsibility our young people are developing as they represent their peers.

A big thank you to those Sixth Form students who supported the Year 7 and 8 charity silent disco this week (and to the staff involved too), for an event which really brought the community together in such a fun and positive way.

Whole School Assembly always provides an important moment to come together as a community and recognise the broad range of pupil achievements and positive contributions across academic, pastoral and co‑curricular life. These assemblies highlight the breadth of activity we can celebrate: from pupils caring thoughtfully for those around them to impressive academic performances in the Mathematics and Physics Olympiads, and the successful completion of individual music grade examinations.

Sport also featured strongly, with over 100 pupils representing the School in football fixtures at Penryn and Helston last week, the Under-18 netball team securing a national cup victory and progressing to the semi-finals, and impressive performances at the cross-country event hosted by the School last weekend.

With the term now in full swing, we encourage our pupils and our staff to continue approaching their learning with curiosity, working collaboratively, and responding positively to feedback and challenges, both in and beyond the classroom, and across the various teams that make up our busy school.

Thank you to pupils, staff and families for your commitment and the care you show, which contributes to the strength of the Truro School community.

Wishing you a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Mrs Rachel Henderson

We would really value your feedback on how we communicated and operated during the recent school closure caused by Storm Goretti.

Your thoughts will help us understand what worked well and where we could do better, so that we can continue to improve the way we support and communicate with our school community in the future.

Thank you for taking the time to share your views with us.

Reminder for Parents: The Wellbeing Hub

As part of our ongoing commitment to pupil mental health and wellbeing, Truro School continues to provide parents, carers and pupils with free access to The Wellbeing Hub – an expert-led resource supporting emotional wellbeing for children and young people, with dedicated content for parents.

The Wellbeing Hub is available to all pupils from Year 7 to Year 13, both in school and at home, and many pupils have already been introduced to the platform through PSHE lessons, with remaining sessions taking place during January.

Parents are warmly encouraged to explore the Hub themselves, and to guide their children towards resources they may find helpful.

*Register via the link in the Parent Portal*

We hope you continue to find The Wellbeing Hub a valuable source of support for your family and welcome your feedback.

Parking Notice: Shell Garage

Dear Parents

We have been contacted by the Shell garage regarding parents using the garage forecourt as a waiting area to collect pupils. They have reported that cars have blocked access for users of the garage and would like to respectfully ask you to refrain from using the forecourt unless you are accessing the shop or using the facilities.

Many thanks,

Sarah Hollingworth
