Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
The first real cold snap of the winter has certainly reminded us that the festive season is fast approaching. In Chapel this week, the first of our Christmas hymns could be heard, and Rev. Helen has launched her now-annual Christmas Carol Competition. The deadline for entries is 30 November, and I very much look forward to hearing the winning carol performed during our end-of-term service at Truro Methodist Church. Pupils will have seen posters around the school with all the necessary details; I encourage as many as possible to take part. Within the Notices section below, we’ve gathered some of the upcoming festive events where parents are invited to get involved, or if there’s a change to the normal routine, eg Charity Day. Please check your emails for more information and keep an eye on the main school calendar for latest updates, new additions and all other events and fixtures.
I would also like to wish our Year 11 pupils the very best as they prepare for their Trial 2 examinations, and likewise our Year 12 and 13 pupils, whose exams will take place in the first days of the new year. Subject Parents’ Evenings for all three year groups will follow soon after; further information will be shared nearer the time.
Following their recent online Subject Parents’ Evening, I also look forward to welcoming Year 9 families in person for the Year 9 Options Evening this Monday, 24 November at 6.30pm in the school chapel. Mrs Ellison, Assistant Head and Director of Studies, will guide parents through the options process, and myself and key staff will be available for discussion and advice.
This academic year marks the final year of our current five-year strategic plan, and a great deal of exciting work is already underway as we shape the next one. We would be extremely grateful for your input. If you haven’t yet done so, please do take a few minutes to complete the Strategic Plan Parent Input Survey. The link was emailed yesterday, and the deadline for responses is 10pm on Sunday, 30 November.
I wish you all a warm and restful weekend ahead.
Dr Shaun Pope
Deputy Head (Academic)

Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) Report
We are delighted to share the outcome report from the recent ISI inspection.
The ISI commended Truro School across academic, co-curricular, boarding, and safeguarding areas, and we are delighted to be able to share the full report with you via the website here.
Traffic Safety Reminder
Please can all drivers ensure they use designated parking spaces when dropping off or collecting children from school. For everyone’s safety, please do not stop on the hatched areas.
Pupils should use the pavement around the side of the SBA car park to walk to and from the SBA and school buildings.
Further to Mr Topping’s update last week and as a quick reminder, if you notice any transport concerns on site, please contact our Compliance Officer via [email protected].
For anything relating to road safety or traffic matters outside the school site, please report these to either the highways team at Cornwall Council here or through 101 if there’s a risk to pupils or staff directly.
Thank you once again to all staff and pupils for your continued support.
Homework Module Update
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we await the launch of the new iSAMS Pupil Homework Module. We were originally expecting the module to be available in October; however, we are still waiting for the final release from the provider. We appreciate that this delay may be inconvenient, and we want to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to move things forward.
In the meantime, all teachers are setting homework assignments via Microsoft Teams.
Your child can view a clear list of their current and upcoming tasks by logging into their Teams account. For ease of access, the Microsoft Teams app can also be downloaded onto mobile phones, which may make logging in and checking homework even more convenient. If you would like to review their homework with them, please ask them to log in and show you the assignments listed in their class Teams.
We understand the importance of a consistent and easily accessible homework system, and we share your eagerness to have the new iSAMS module in place. We will update you as soon as this is in place, and we remain hopeful that it will be available very soon.
Thank you once again for your support and partnership as we work to improve our systems for pupils and families.
Please click the link to view a guide for viewing homework assignments on Teams.
Uniform Message
Just a reminder that our uniform policy can be found [here]. Pupils are expected to arrive at school in the correct uniform, including appropriate footwear.
Blazers should be worn at all times, even under raincoats. If a pupil needs to remove their blazer, permission must be obtained from a member of staff.
Thank you for your support in ensuring our uniform standards are maintained.
Lost Property - End of Term Reminder
Please note that all unclaimed lost property will be cleared at the end of term. We kindly ask that all items be collected before Wednesday 17th December.
During term time, items can be collected between 0800 – 1300 items from Lost Property Holding A (outside, front of SBA), or from the Lost Property Container (outside, left side of SBA) between 1315 – 1430.
Pupils will be notified if any named lost property has been found. Once notified, pupils are expected to collect their items within one week. Additionally, parents/carers will be emailed if there is named property awaiting collection.
If you have any questions, please contact: [email protected]. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us reunite lost items with their owners before the end of term.
