Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
As we reach the end of a busy half term, there is a real sense of achievement and a welcome pause. For many in our community, this term has brought new beginnings – a new school, new subjects, new expectations – all exciting and sometimes challenging.
In his assembly this week, the Head acknowledged these challenges and encouraged us to use the break not just to rest, but to engage in activities that refresh and nourish us personally. He also stressed the importance of community in an often divided and conflicted world, reminding us, through Jesus’ words, to “love thy neighbour,” even when it’s difficult. This spirit of compassion and kindness strengthens our school and was beautifully reflected in our Harvest celebrations this week. The Chapel looked wonderful; a warm reminder of all we have to be thankful for. Many thanks to all who donated generously to the Food Bank collection. Your kindness will make a real difference to families in need.
The Chapel also came alive with beautiful music on Thursday evening for the final of our Senior House Music Competition. It was an uplifting occasion with outstanding performances. Congratulations to everyone who took part.
I was proud to join the Whole School Council on Wednesday morning, with representatives from all year groups, brilliantly led by our Head Boy and Head Girl team. Pupil voice is vital at Truro School, and it was inspiring to see such thoughtful and mature contributions shaping our school community.
Sport plays a huge role at Truro School, not just in terms of performance but for wellbeing. Congratulations to all pupils for their achievements this half term, from personal improvements to national training selections. Special mentions go to the U16 Hockey team, who were crowned County Champions this week, the 1st XV, who have continued their impressive winning streak, and the many pupils who represented the school in matches. You can read more about the latest sports achievements in the round-up below.
As we head into the break, we send best wishes to those travelling on exciting trips, whether to Iceland, Morocco, or on the Choristers’ Autumn Tour. We hope you have a wonderful, enriching experience and return with exciting stories to tell.
In my role as HR Director, I have the privilege of working closely with staff across every area of the school. I want to express my sincere gratitude to all of them for their dedication, hard work and resilience throughout this demanding half term. Their commitment goes beyond just doing their jobs; they bring kindness, creativity, and often a much-needed sense of humour that helps us all navigate the unexpected challenges that arise. Their flexibility, teamwork, and genuine care for each other and our pupils creates a supportive community and a positive environment for learning and growth.
Wishing you all a restful and restorative half term break.
Mrs Rachel Henderson
HR Director

Parent Notice: Parking Reminders
We have recently been contacted by a local business near the school regarding the use of their car park by some Truro School families during drop-off and pick-up times. While they are understanding of occasional use, a few issues have arisen, including parents waiting in disabled bays and pupils playing near parked vehicles.
We kindly ask all parents to be considerate and to refrain from using private car parks. Please also remind your children to be mindful of their surroundings when waiting before or after school.
The business has asked us to note that it is not a public car park and that parking fines may be issued for misuse of disabled spaces.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding
