19.09.2025 Senior Bulletin

Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

Ahead of what I hope will be a lovely weekend for you all, my thanks to your children for another super week in School.

As well as catching up with many of you at the various parent-facing events, presentations and informal chats since the start of term, I have enjoyed seeing your children ‘at work’ too. I have marvelled at some great creativity in Art, Drama and DT classes, including admirably ambitious coursework. I was impressed by the mature debate and discussion of some challenging topics in PSHE, and the ingenious (as opposed to igneous) use of small dinosaurs in Geology. A Maths A-Level class reminded me of how much I have forgotten since I was 18 (and how much your children definitely know), and I wish I had studied languages for longer, having seen what can be learnt here too.

It is uplifting for me to see these glimpses of what your children experience daily. The variety of their days is tremendous, as I was reminded of by those waiting to go surfing on the WAA bus last week. I have since discovered preparation for a weaving WAA activity in a science laboratory off the back of watching our rugby team start their season with style against the bulk of the Cornwall Schools.

Chapel has kept us connected to our community values and our responsibilities to each other, and our pastoral teams are keeping a close eye on all who are still settling into the School or into the routines and expectations of their new year groups.

So, I take this opportunity to praise your children for their ambition and endeavour. I suspect many, including those who have long commutes to School, deserve some rest at the weekends when not pursuing wider passions for or beyond School then too. I thank our staff who facilitate and inspire this breadth of opportunity and depth of interest. And I thank you for all the encouragement you give to your children to be as involved as they are in the life of the School, which I know is a commitment for you as well as them.

Your and your children’s experience of School is key to our success and to our ongoing evolution. I am sending a separate letter to you all today with details of when you are invited to hear more about our plans for the year ahead for the School, too. Please do read that letter, and I look forward to seeing you over the weeks and months to come.

A polite reminder that parents should not be on-site during the school day (8.45am – 5.00pm) unless under the following circumstances:

· You have a scheduled appointment with a member of staff. In this case, you must sign in at Reception at the front of the school.
· You are spectating at a school sports fixture. In this case, you must sign in and out at the SBA Sports Centre Reception.
· You are visiting the Truro School Café during its opening hours (8.00am – 10.30am and 3.00pm – 4.15pm). If visiting the Café, you must sign in and out using the tablet in the Café. Parents and visitors should not be in the Café outside of these hours.

If you are collecting your child from school, please park and wait in the designated parking area outside of the Sports Centre.

Our pupils are taught about site supervision and safety including what to do if they see an adult on site during the day without a visitor badge or staff badge. Please help our pupils to keep safe by following these safeguarding procedures.

Thank you.
