Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,
As we come to the end of another busy week in school, I wanted to share some moments that have brought our community together.
We began the week with our Remembrance Service, thoughtfully led by our Sixth Form. Pupils across the school observed the silence with great maturity as we paid tribute to members of our own school community who gave their lives in service. It was a moving reminder of the sacrifices made, and of the importance of honouring those who came before us. Moments like these bind us through shared reflection and gratitude.
This week also marked Anti-Bullying Week, centred around the theme Power of Good. Rev. Helen and the Sixth Form led a powerful Chapel service, encouraging pupils to reflect on the difference that simple, everyday kindness can make. Tutor groups continued these conversations, exploring how each of us can stand up for others and contribute to a culture in which everyone feels valued. Our Head of Year assemblies strengthened this message further, challenging pupils to choose kindness in all that they do. And, of course, Odd Socks Day was marked by many bright and bold socks!
Mrs Jobling’s whole-school assembly brought these themes together in an inspiring way. By focusing on resilience, courage, and kindness, she invited pupils to think honestly about the small actions, often unnoticed, that shape the world around us. “Because kindness is rarely convenient,” she reminded us. “It’s rarely easy. And yet—it is powerful enough to change the world around us.” Her challenge to each pupil was simple: notice the moments to be kind and take them.
I am delighted to see such strong participation in our School Council, with pupils engaging thoughtfully and enthusiastically in discussions that matter to our school community. At the start of this half term our Head Students met with the Senior Leadership Team to share feedback from our School Council and explore priorities for the continued development of our school environment and ethos. Pupil voice is a powerful tool in shaping our school community, and I look forward to sharing with pupils the areas of school life that we are planning to develop because of their feedback.
This month also marks one year since we introduced Yondr. It has been a positive and forward-thinking step in helping our young people regulate their phone use, reconnect with one another, and enjoy the benefits of a school environment centred on real conversation and meaningful interaction. We are grateful for your ongoing support and kindly ask that you continue to encourage your child to bring their Yondr pouch to school each day.
The power of good thrives at Truro School because of the people who champion it daily. We are immensely proud of our pupils and all they do to be kind and encourage others.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend,
Miss Emma Mitchell

Homework Module Update
Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we await the launch of the new iSAMS Pupil Homework Module. We were originally expecting the module to be available in October; however, we are still waiting for the final release from the provider. We appreciate that this delay may be inconvenient, and we want to reassure you that we are doing everything we can to move things forward.
In the meantime, all teachers are setting homework assignments via Microsoft Teams.
Your child can view a clear list of their current and upcoming tasks by logging into their Teams account. For ease of access, the Microsoft Teams app can also be downloaded onto mobile phones, which may make logging in and checking homework even more convenient. If you would like to review their homework with them, please ask them to log in and show you the assignments listed in their class Teams.
We understand the importance of a consistent and easily accessible homework system, and we share your eagerness to have the new iSAMS module in place. We will update you as soon as this is in place, and we remain hopeful that it will be available very soon.
Thank you once again for your support and partnership as we work to improve our systems for pupils and families.
