Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

As we draw closer to the end of term, I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks for your continued support of our co-curricular endeavours and wider school community.

In Chapel this week, Rev Helen has continued our Advent theme, lighting the candle – Joy. Chapel provides a moment of stillness amidst the bustle, offering staff and pupils space for reflection and a reminder of the values at the heart of this season.

This past week saw a tremendous turnout for our Christmas Fayre, which was a joyous celebration of creativity, generosity, and festive spirit. My sincere thanks go to everyone who contributed. Events such as these remind us just how special our school community is when we come together with purpose and goodwill. The event included Carols around the Christmas tree, wonderfully led by our talented choristers. Their poise, musicality, and commitment filled the event with enchantment and set a perfect tone for the season ahead.

A gentle reminder that Spring Term Wednesday Afternoon Activity Option Forms have now been emailed to your inbox. Please ensure these are completed and returned by Monday 8 December so we can confirm allocations and staffing for next term’s activities.

I would also like to thank the many parents who joined us at the Christmas Concert at Truro Methodist Church. Your presence made the evening even more special and showcased the strength of our partnership as a school family, alongside the joy and breadth of our talented pupils.

At the close of the concert, Mr Johnson officially launched our Music Centre Appeal. Truro School has a long and proud tradition of philanthropy, and the Music Project marks the next exciting chapter. A number of individuals, including alumni, former parents, and the CMST, are already supporting this important project. This is a moment where your gift can make a powerful, lasting difference, directly linked to the joy and opportunities the new Music Centre will bring. We warmly welcome the interest, time, expertise, and philanthropy of all who wish to support our ambitions. If you would like to find out more, please click here.

Looking ahead, we warmly invite all parents, family, and friends to attend the Nine Lessons and Carols at Truro Cathedral on Tuesday 16 December at 7pm. This cherished service promises to be a fitting and uplifting culmination to our musical celebrations of the season.

As we reflect on hope, peace, joy and love this Advent, it feels fitting to remember the words of Desmond Tutu: “Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world.” When each of us contributes in small, meaningful ways, we build a community grounded in partnership, compassion, and hope. With warm wishes for a peaceful and joyful week ahead,

Warm regards,

Mrs Zoe Jobling

Deputy Head (Co-Curriculum and Partnerships)

Uniform Message

Just a reminder that our uniform policy can be found on our website. Pupils are expected to arrive at school in the correct uniform, including appropriate footwear.

Blazers should be worn at all times, even under raincoats. If a pupil needs to remove their blazer, permission must be obtained from a member of staff.

Thank you for your support in ensuring our uniform standards are maintained.

Absence Reminder

A reminder that requests for absence for a planned appointment or event should be made as far in advance as possible in writing to the absence email: [email protected].

All requests will be considered by the Deputy Head (Pastoral), consulting, where necessary, with the Head. We do ask for as much notice as possible and supportive acceptance if, for any reason, we feel that permission should not be granted.

Pupils will only be granted leave to be absent from school in exceptional circumstances. Requests for absence for a holiday or recreational reasons are not considered to be exceptional circumstances.
