13.02.2026 Senior Bulletin

Dear Parents, Guardians & Carers,

It was lovely to welcome our Year 7 grandparents to the School this afternoon to spend time with their grandchildren, see the site, and enjoy afternoon tea together. This connection between school life, families, and our wider community is such an important part of what makes Truro School special. It was wonderful to see how proud the children were to show their grandparents around and share their achievements.

Last week, we also welcomed our local councillor and the Council’s highways team to discuss the condition of Trennick Lane, a Council-owned and managed road that runs through the School grounds and continues up to the neighbouring farm. They recognise that its deterioration is significant and that our ongoing reporting of potholes is helping to keep the issue on their agenda. We did note that recent temporary repairs have unfortunately been affected by the rain, but please do continue reporting any issues. We expect to hear shortly about planned works and additional signage to help make the road safer for pupils and easier for vehicles.

The link to report the potholes is here > Potholes – Cornwall Council

We are continuing to make progress following Storm Goretti and the bad weather earlier this half term, with the Prep site having been most significantly affected. We are working closely with Truro Golf Club to ensure that the work being carried out by both parties supports our strong partnership going forward.

On the Senior site, the Music Project and Assembly Hall continue to progress well. I toured the building with the architects this week, and it is really starting to take shape. You can now see much more clearly what the finished space will look like, which is very exciting. Thank you again for your patience while the project continues, particularly with construction vehicles accessing and leaving the compound.

Our Music Appeal through the Truro School Foundation is ongoing, with community support helping to equip the new centre and provide outstanding musical opportunities for pupils at Truro School and across the county. We are extremely grateful to everyone who has already supported it. If you would like to find out more, please click here.

Have a wonderful half-term, and thank you to all members of our community, parents, grandparents, staff, and friends, for your ongoing support.

Mr Kieran Topping

Chief Operating Officer

Reminder for Parents: The Wellbeing Hub

As part of our ongoing commitment to pupil mental health and wellbeing, Truro School continues to provide parents, carers and pupils with free access to The Wellbeing Hub – an expert-led resource supporting emotional wellbeing for children and young people, with dedicated content for parents.

The Wellbeing Hub is available to all pupils from Year 7 to Year 13, both in school and at home, and many pupils have already been introduced to the platform through PSHE lessons, with remaining sessions taking place during January.

Parents are warmly encouraged to explore the Hub themselves, and to guide their children towards resources they may find helpful.

*Register via the link in the Parent Portal*

We hope you continue to find The Wellbeing Hub a valuable source of support for your family and welcome your feedback.

Safeguarding Alert: Celebrity Meet and Greet Websites

We would like to make you aware of an online safety concern recently highlighted by the Education Safeguarding Team.

There has been an increase in fake ‘Celebrity Meet and Greet’ websites targeting children. These sites are not genuine and are designed to draw children into unsafe online spaces where unknown adults can initiate contact direct.

Recent examples shared by safeguarding partners indicate that:

  • Children accessing these sites have been matched with adults pretending to be celebrities.
  • These adults use the false ‘celebrity’ identity to build trust quickly.
  • Some children have been exposed to inappropriate or unsafe communication.
  • The design of these sites encourages children to stay online without recognising the danger.
  • Children and young people may be drawn in because the sites seem exciting or promise exclusive access to influencers.
  • Many do not realise that the profiles shown are fake, and the platforms often lack any age checks or safety controls.

How you can help keep your child safe:

Start the conversation

  • Talk calmly and openly with your child about safe online behaviour.
  • Explain that genuine celebrities do not use random video chat sites to speak with fans.
  • Encourage your child to tell a trusted adult if anything online feels wrong or uncomfortable.

Supervise online activity

  • Supervise your child’s online use, especially on video‑based platforms.
  • Check parental controls and privacy settings.
  • Ask your child which websites and apps they use and explore them together where appropriate.
  • Report concerns promptly
If your child reports anything worrying, follow usual safeguarding procedures.
Any illegal content or behaviour should also be reported to CEOP (Child Exploitation and Online Protection)

Please be reassured that we will continue to educate and support our pupils about online safety.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our CEOP Ambassadors Mrs Thurlow and Mrs Holman.

Yours sincerely

Emma Mitchell
Deputy Head Pastoral and Designated Safeguarding Lead
