Year 9 pupils enjoyed a fantastic day in St Ives as they launched the beginning of their GCSE Art course with a creative visit to the Tate St Ives and the Barbara Hepworth Museum & Sculpture Garden.
Blessed with glorious summer sunshine, the warm weather perfectly complemented the beautiful coastal setting, creating a relaxed and inspiring atmosphere for a day of artistic exploration.
Throughout the day, pupils took part in a series of hands-on workshops, including harbour photography, architectural drawing, and gallery-based activities inspired by the work of Barbara Hepworth. They also explored the Tate St Ives, discovering how Cornwall’s unique landscape has inspired generations of artists.
The visit provided an exciting introduction to GCSE Art, encouraging pupils to develop their observational skills, experiment with new techniques, and draw inspiration from world-class collections and the vibrant surroundings of St Ives. It was a memorable start to what promises to be a creative and rewarding GCSE journey.
