Four teams compete but only one house emerge victorious…
This year’s Sports Day was a fiercely fought competition between the green, blue, red and yellow vests representing School, Smith, Wickett and Vinter Houses.
Having had to postpone Sports Day from the original date, due to high winds, we had our fingers crossed for the reserve date; luck was on our side.
Celebrating participation and team-work, the contestants took part enthusiastically and supported each other throughout the day; the winning team always presents the highest number of entrants, so running in the C string 100m or throwing the C string shot, for example, is just as important.
There were some excellent individual performances throughout the day: Milli Y broke the 4th/5th Year girls’ discus record with 26.73m whilst Izzie L ran a magnificent 1500m in 5 minutes 02.21s, breaking the record held by international runner Katie K.
The scores for the houses were very close but in the end Smith House pulled away with some fine performances in the relays.
1st Place Smith House 1717.5pts
2nd Place School House 1602pts
3rd Place Vinter House 1569.5pts
4th Place Wickett House 1569pts
Well done Smith House!
A big thank you to Mr Austin and his team of helpers for organising, judging, timing and measuring and to the estates team for all their help in preparing the fields. Thank you also to the Friends of Truro School for their delicious selection of cakes and hot drinks and to Meg G for some of the photos on the gallery!
