Triumphant Hall for Cornwall Concert

A heartfelt thank you to all the pupils and students who shared their musical journey with us at last night’s Hall for Cornwall concert. With performances ranging from Peter Warlock’s Capriol Suite and Chopin’s Étude op.10 no.3 to hits from Foo Fighters and Abba, featuring pupils from Prep through to Upper Sixth, it was an eclectic and triumphant evening.

The evening began with a captivating performance from the Jazz Orchestra, accompanied by Lilly and Ella. The Prep Choir followed with a beautiful rendition of ‘Icarus’ by Paul Jarman. Year 5 pupils joined the choir for a playful performance of ‘Haul Away Joe’ and a beautifully orchestrated version of ‘The Wellerman’.

Talented Upper Sixth student Finlay delivered a virtuoso piano solo, followed by an uplifting rendition of ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by the 1st Year Girls. The audience was enchanted by the delightful voices of the Girl Choristers, with the Chamber Choir finishing the first half on a high note.

Members of the audience were welcomed back by the spectacular Wind Band, followed by the delightful performance of A-Level student Bryher. The Chamber Orchestra then performed a superb ‘Capriol Suite’ by Peter Warlock, followed by an enthusiastic rendition of ‘Wonderwall’ by the 1st Year Boys. The 4th Year Rock Band brought the show to a crescendo with their outstanding rendition of Foo Fighters’ ‘Learn to Fly’.

Mr Andy Johnson, Head, took to the stage to express his gratitude to Mr Richard Osmond, Director of Music, and his team for organising such a splendid evening and for shining the spotlight on our talented pupils.

A magnificent well done to everyone involved in making the evening such a success, and to all the musical performers!
