The Classes of 1962-65 Reunion

On Saturday 24 October, Truro School welcomed back Old Truronians from the 1962-65 era for their 5-yearly reunion. Organised by Richard Stevenson CO64, the day brought together friends who, for many, had not seen one another since the last reunion in 2022. 38 guests, including partners, siblings and friends, gathered in the Chapel from 10.30am.

A tour of the School followed, including our brand-new Music Centre, The Ode. For those who had not been back since their own school days, it was a chance to see how much has changed, and to find the corners that remain familiar. Lunch was served in the Sixth Form Café, and the afternoon was left free for guests to revisit old haunts, and discover new ones, in the City of Truro.

The day came together again at 6.30pm for drinks in the Dining Hall, followed by a formal dinner which began with a welcome from the Head, Mr Andy Johnson and followed by a moment’s silence in tribute to Old Truronians who have passed away.

The menu offered whipped chicken liver pâté with chutney or a vegetable tartlet with pesto cream to start, seared chicken breast with chasseur garnish or a butternut squash pithivier for the main course, and a crème brûlée-topped vanilla cheesecake to finish. Around the tables, stories were swapped long into the evening, and the room was full of speeches and laughter.

It was a wonderful occasion, and a fitting way to celebrate a milestone year for so many of those present. Our thanks go to Richard Stevenson, whose enthusiasm and organisation made the day possible, and to everyone who travelled to be there.
