Weekly News from Pre-Prep 11.09.26

This week in Truro School Pre-Prep, pupils across Nursery to Year 2 have enjoyed a wide range of creative, collaborative and active learning experiences.

In Nursery, the children enjoyed printing apples onto paper using forks, practising dipping, pressing and holding the forks to strengthen the muscles in their hands, which will help prepare them for writing and drawing. Some children enjoyed mixing the colours and discussing the changes they noticed. They also went on a lovely walk around the school grounds, searching for leaves and sticks and comparing their different sizes.

Reception pupils have been exploring the nursery rhyme ‘I’m a Little Teapot’, singing the rhyme and acting it out, as well as painting and drawing teacups and observing patterns on antique teacups. In maths, they have been exploring the seasons, setting up their class calendar and birthday display.

In Year 1, pupils have been sharing their summer stories in literacy, using their sounds to write about all the fun things they got up to. In humanities, they have been learning about the continents and in art, they have started painting watercolour animals in their new art scrapbooks.

Year 2 have been busy settling into new routines and sharing their summer news. In science, they have been recapping animal life cycles and learning about animal reproduction, and they have also started their new topic on the Romans.

For all of our Pre-Prep pupils, the start of a new academic year is one full of new beginnings, challenges and discoveries.
