All Smiles for Induction Day

We were delighted to welcome a host of new starters to Truro School today for their induction day, the first step in a carefully structured journey that helps every new pupil settle in with confidence.

Our new Year 7 pupils spent the day getting to know their tutors, who will be central to their pastoral and academic life over the coming years. A highlight of the morning was a visit from our Alumni team, who invited pupils to write letters to their future selves. These letters will be kept safe and returned on the day they leave Truro School.

The rest of the Year 7s’ day was spent on team-building and orienteering tasks designed to build confidence and help pupils find their way around our site, alongside inductions into the gym and the school’s IT systems and, of course, lunch!

Meanwhile, new pupils entering Year 8 and above were taking part in their own induction days, connecting with friends, meeting new peers and familiarising themselves with the site and systems they’ll need to hit the ground running when term begins.

Our boarders, both returning and new starters, have already been welcomed into the community, with a special barbecue on Monday evening followed by team-building and orienteering challenges both on campus and out in the city of Truro. This year we’re pleased to welcome boarders from the Isles of Scilly and the wider UK, Germany, Spain and China, among many others, into our boarding family.

At the heart of everything we do at Truro School is our ethos to know, challenge and empower our pupils and students, so these induction days are the first important step in that journey. Starting a new school can be daunting, but our carefully structured pathways ensure every pupil has the support they need from day one. We are proud to be a school that is small enough for every child to be known, yet big enough to help them fulfil their potential and explore new depths during their time with us.
