Fantastic Flamenco at Prep

Our Year 3 and 4 pupils recently stepped into the vibrant world of Flamenco as part of their Spanish course, and what an experience it was!

The sessions were led by professional Flamenco instructor Claudia Caolín from Flamenco Cornwall, who introduced pupils to the rich history and traditions behind this iconic Spanish art form. They discovered the four essential elements that bring Flamenco to life: cante (singing), toque (the distinctive flamenco guitar style), dance, and palmas (rhythmic hand clapping).

After learning about the culture and structure of Flamenco, pupils had the chance to try the moves themselves. With plenty of energy, rhythm and smiles, they embraced the challenge on the dance floor, showing impressive confidence as they practised the basic steps together.

Claudia was delighted by the pupils’ enthusiasm and how quickly each group picked up the rhythms and movements. It was fantastic to see everyone getting involved and enjoying the experience.

A big thank you to acting MFL Coordinator, Jo Wright, for organising such an engaging, hands-on opportunity that truly brought Spanish culture to life at Truro School Prep, and to our MFL Coordinator, Mrs Fergusson-Cooper, for coming in for the day to help supervise, and also to Mrs Morse for helping with supervision.

¡Olé!
