Boarding Roundup 12.09.25

It was a privilege to welcome our new boarders and watch them form friendships and familiarise themselves with the houses, school campus and wider city. This year, our boarders join us from locations including the Isles of Scilly, China, Germany, France, Italy, Lithuania, and Spain.

Our boarders have spent their first week settling in, with an induction programme that included a ‘selfie hunt’ in Truro. Armed with a list of shops, locations and items to find, boarders worked in groups to familiarise themselves with Truro, a small and welcoming city that provides our boarders with plenty to discover, without overwhelming those living away from home for the first time.

The first weekend’s activities included a fencing taster session in the on-site Truro School fencing salle, time with boarding’s top dog, Alfie and a trip to Adrenaline Quarry’s Aqua Park. Our boarders got stuck in climbing, jumping, sliding & bouncing in a huge inflatable playground nestled within the waters of the quarry, providing a memorable introduction to the diversity of Cornwall’s rich landscape.

Back at Malvern, there was also a birthday to celebrate, with singing, cake, cards and flowers to wish a ‘Happy Birthday’ to Miss McKechnie, Resident House Tutor.

With the obligatory ‘first day back’ photo taken, our boarders strode into the new academic year with confidence.

We look forward to sharing more updates from our boarders, providing an insight into what makes boarding at Truro School so special and unique.
