Sixth Form students stepped into the world of hospitality, taking part in an inspiring workshop delivered by the Cornwall Hospitality Collective, gaining valuable insight into the wide range of skills and career opportunities within the industry.
Throughout the session, students rotated through a series of hands-on activities led by industry professionals, each designed to showcase a different aspect of hospitality and customer service. One station focused on barista skills, where students learned the art of coffee making, from steaming milk correctly to crafting the perfect cup.
Students also discovered the importance of presentation and precision through a table styling activity, learning how to professionally set tables for a variety of dining experiences. Another engaging session challenged students to identify a range of wine aromas and flavours, helping them develop an understanding of the important role taste and scent play within the hospitality sector.
Creativity was also encouraged through a dessert presentation activity, where students experimented with plating and decoration techniques to explore how visual presentation can enhance the overall dining experience.
The workshop provided a fantastic opportunity for students to engage with industry professionals, develop practical new skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the dynamic and varied world of hospitality. We are incredibly grateful to the Cornwall Hospitality Collective for delivering such an enjoyable and inspiring experience for our students.
