Old Truronian Christian Purchase CO12 was in the news over the weekend after Penzance Cricket Club made it all the way to the National Club Championship at Lord’s.
The Cornwall Premier League champions faced Ormskirk on Saturday at the home of cricket. They are the first side from Cornwall to ever play in the event’s final. It was the first time a Cornish side had played at Lord’s since Werrington were beaten in the 1994 Village Cup final – the last side from the county to win at the home of cricket was Troon when they won the third of their Village Cup titles in 1976.
Congratulations to Christian and the whole team despite the defeat.
