A Busy Half Term at Truro School

It has been a busy and exciting two weeks across the Truro School site for our Enterprises team! While pupils enjoyed a well-earned half-term break, the campus was buzzing with activity, visitors and events.

Alongside extended opening hours for our gym and swimming facilities, we welcomed holiday campers, international chefs, theatre companies, performers and more than 1,000 visitors to our first Artisan Markets Cornwall event.

Halloween Fun at Activity Camps

Our Activity Camps were bursting with Halloween excitement, with children enjoying a fantastic programme of themed activities. Highlights included a Halloween party with a silent disco, pumpkin carving and fancy-dress competition.

Our Bushcraft Adventurers explored the woodland, built dens, toasted marshmallows around the campfire and got creative with natural materials, while our budding artists enjoyed a day of spooky arts and crafts.

A huge thank you to all the children who joined us. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for more adventures in February half term!

Artisan Markets Cornwall

We were delighted to welcome Artisan Markets Cornwall to Truro School for the first time. More than 50 traders took over The Ode, showcasing handmade, bespoke and unique products, perfect for early Christmas shopping.

The three-day event welcomed more than 1,000 visitors, with guests enjoying the market atmosphere, refreshments, cakes, mulled wine and mince pies.

It was wonderful to receive such positive feedback from the stallholders, many of whom enjoyed a fantastic weekend of sales and meeting new customers. We’re pleased to confirm that Artisan Markets Cornwall will return in June, August and October 2027!

International Culinary Collaboration at Truro School Cookery

Our Cookery School welcomed The Galley Gang, an international community of yacht chefs travelling from Australia, the USA, Canada and across the UK for a week of culinary collaboration and specialist masterclasses.

The chefs enjoyed an exciting programme of workshops, covering artisan breadmaking, butchery, Indian cuisine, sushi and pasta making, led by a fantastic line-up of guest specialists.

The week culminated in an exclusive 10-course tasting menu, prepared and presented by the chefs at our on-site café. It was a pleasure to provide a space for such talented professionals to share their skills and passion for food.

A Theatrical Half Term

There was plenty of drama and entertainment across The Burrell Theatre and The Ode, as we welcomed BARTA Theatre Academy and BOOM Theatre for a series of performances.

BOOM Theatre brought its production of Wonderland to the stage, offering a fresh and imaginative take on the classic Alice story, complete with spectacular staging, music and plenty of theatrical energy.

Meanwhile, BARTA Theatre Academy presented The Addams Family Musical: Young@Part Edition. Audiences enjoyed the hilarious and heartwarming adventures of Wednesday, Morticia, Gomez and the rest of the wonderfully unusual Addams family. Younger audience members arriving in costume were even treated to sweet-filled goody bags!

Thank You!

From woodland adventures and Halloween celebrations to international culinary masterclasses, artisan shopping and live theatre, it has certainly been a lively half term at Truro School.

A huge thank you to everyone who hired our facilities, performed, participated, visited or helped make the past two weeks such a success. We love seeing our campus enjoyed by so many different groups and communities throughout the holidays, and look forward to welcoming everyone back soon!
