4th Year pupil, Joseph, has been working independently on a personal project to plot the Mandelbrot Set. Through experimentation and research, he developed a program using matplotlib for visualization, and PyTorch and NumPy to enable parallel processing for efficient computation.
To support his work, he created a custom matplotlib-based plotter that allowed for interactive zooming and panning of the Mandelbrot set, enhancing the visual exploration of the fractal. Last week he was invited to share his findings and present his project to a small audience of teachers and A-Level maths and computer science students.
All attendees agreed it was a very impressive piece of work which offered a valuable opportunity for academic discussion, sparking further questions and interest in complex numbers, fractals, and high-performance computing.
A big thank you to Joseph and the team for facilitating this wonderful academic enrichment opportunity.
