Training for Truro School Prep Rugby Festival

On Monday 4th October Truro School Prep were delighted to welcome the Falmouth Rugby Club u10s mixed (boys and girls) team for a training game at the Prep site. Old Truronian, Mr Matt Mullaly CO86, Falmouth RFC u10s coach, and Truro School Prep Games Coordinator, Mr Josh Lord, organised the event for more than 30 children. This game was held in advance of the Truro School Prep Rugby Festival due to take place on Wednesday 24th November.

The two mixed teams participated in two seven-aside games of great rugby in glorious sunshine. A great afternoon was had by all, and it was a valuable opportunity for the Truro School Prep pupils to practice with other children from the local community.

Josh’s match report:

“It was fantastic for our players to not only get the opportunity to play against local opposition, but for the standard of rugby to be of such a high level. The sportsmanship shown by both teams was exemplary and I look forward to hosting similar events in the future. It would be fantastic to make fixtures with local club sides a regular occurrence.”

Matt’s match report:

“The Falmouth team were 50/50 girls and boys. The team represented 6 primary schools within the Falmouth area. The match highlights what community engagement can do and the impressive standard that the children can reach. The most touching praise goes to boys of Truro School who showed great respect and humility to our team. See you all again at the Festival in November.”

Many thanks to all the players involved and to Josh and Matt for arranging the game. We look forward to future Club engagements bringing our sporting communities together.
