As part of their Year 8 residential experience, pupils were able to choose between two exciting trips, each offering its own unique opportunities for adventure, learning and personal development.
For one group, that meant travelling to Brittany for a memorable cultural and linguistic adventure in France. During the trip, pupils visited the picturesque towns of Châteaulin, Locronan and Concarneau, discovering local landmarks and taking part in a variety of engaging activities. In Locronan, they had to take specific photos of Locronan, include some French words and create a short video, while in Concarneau they explored the historic fortifications and winding streets of the famous walled city.
The visit provided plenty of opportunities to put classroom learning into practice. Pupils developed their confidence in speaking French while visiting local markets and an adventure park, chatting with vendors and making purchases using their language skills. A particularly memorable moment was meeting and travelling alongside a group of French pupils who were also participating in a cultural exchange programme.
As well as enjoying the sights and sounds of Brittany, pupils completed a range of research tasks, interviewing local residents to gain a deeper understanding of regional traditions and daily life. They also sampled some of the area’s culinary delights, with traditional Breton crêpes proving especially popular.
Staff were delighted with the pupils’ positive attitude, curiosity and excellent conduct throughout the trip. Special thanks go to Miss Magnin and the accompanying staff team for making the experience such a success.
