Summer Term Begins

It was wonderful to welcome pupils back to school for the start of the Summer Term, as they filled the halls and classrooms with enthusiasm, positivity, and a strong sense of community. It has been lovely to see smiling faces, hear lively conversations, and feel the energy across the school once again.

At the Senior Site, our start-of-term service, led by School Chaplain Rev Helen, focused on values, character, and inspiration drawn from the idea of the knights of old and their Code of Chivalry. With it being St George’s Day, pupils reflected on the relevance of those qualities of a knight within their own ‘Code for Life’, as they held up shields committing to be ‘helpful, just, courageous, sagacious’ (and many more).

Through stories of legendary figures like King Arthur and St George, alongside the example of Jesus’ teachings of love and service to all, Rev Helen reminded us that St George’s Day is the time Scouts around the world remake their promise ‘on my honour, I promise to do my best.’

Pupils were encouraged to consider what it means to live with integrity and to consider making a simple but powerful personal commitment of their own: “I promise that I will do my best” and reflect on the values they will follow to be the best version of themselves.

Pupils at Truro School Prep were all smiles as we also welcomed them back for their first day of the Summer Term. After the Easter break, pupils were delighted to reconnect with friends, quickly immersing themselves in playtime, learning, and an action-packed first week of activities. They have also been making the most of the glorious sunshine, enjoying time outdoors and fresh air in our beautiful Prep spaces. To mark St George’s Day, pupils took part in a thoughtful activity led by Rev Helen, designing their own shields and reflecting on the qualities of a knight, each choosing a value that represents the kind of person they aspire to be.

We hope everyone enjoyed a restful break and is feeling refreshed and ready for the weeks ahead, and we look forward to sharing many exciting events and achievements as the term progresses. Here’s to a fantastic Summer Term!
