Wednesday afternoons have been a creative calm cavern of craft for pupils opting to make soft toys.
The sessions have allowed those with different capabilities to try their hand at cutting, hand sewing and working with commercial patterns to create their toys from various materials.
Learning different stitch types, having fun and improving on skills have been the aim of the game, with pupils recycling fabric, using scraps and learning how to cut their patterns economically as part of the process.
Truro School’s Wednesday Afternoon Activities (WAA) offer diverse options, from sports and outdoor pursuits to creative and academic activities, with choices both on-site and off-site to develop skills and well-being. As a firm favourite with pupils, the activities allow for creativity and skill-building in new areas every week. A timetable of activities fluctuates each term, with something on offer for everyone.
Pupils participating in the soft toy making workshops have commented on how they have enjoyed the relaxation and calmness of the learning environment, which the school welcomes to improve pupil wellbeing.
