Wednesday Afternoon Enrichment

Every Wednesday afternoon, our standard timetable ends, and pupils can pick from over 30 different opportunities to embrace learning and development beyond the classroom during our Wednesday Afternoon Activities (WAA) programme.

The list of activities changes from term to term and offers something for every individual.  WAAs are a fantastic way for our new Year 7 pupils to feel at ease in their new school environment and provide further opportunities for them to make friends with shared interests across different year groups. For our older pupils and students, these sessions empower them to practise leadership skills under the guidance of teachers.

At Truro School, we believe that a rich co-curricular life is the key ingredient to aiding character development in our pupils and students. Whilst participating in a wide range of activities, without academic pressures, they broaden their horizons and learn a new skill or hone existing ones. This in turn develops their confidence, self-esteem, teamwork and social development. With something on offer for everyone, from sporting clubs to art workshops, digital photography to computing, the timetable offers enrichment opportunities for all year groups.

On-site, pupils were enjoying activities that spanned British Army Fitness, gardening, music composition, football, rugby, hockey, patisserie cooking, board games, wargaming and printmaking. Others headed off-site for horse riding, sailing, surfing, watersports, golf and tennis sessions that made the most of our unique Cornish location.
