Over the past week, our 4th Year (Year 10) pupils have swapped the classroom for the coastline as part of their GCSE Biology module on Ecology.
The field trip to Castle Beach in Falmouth provided a valuable opportunity to explore first-hand the complex interactions between organisms and their environment. Pupils investigated key ecological concepts such as food chains, ecosystems, and the effects of human activity on natural habitats. As part of their required practical work, they conducted two investigations focused on the distribution of seaweeds and limpets along the rocky shore. Back at school, they analysed their findings and presented their data in the lab.
A huge thank you to the Biology Department for organising this inspiring and hands-on learning experience, which reinforces the vital role of fieldwork in science education.
