A New Purpose for Epworth House

Truro School is pleased to share plans for the transformation of Epworth House into a new, multi-functional wellbeing hub, reflecting the School’s continued commitment to supporting every aspect of a pupil’s development.

With the new Music Centre now complete and ready to welcome the Truro School Music Department and colleagues from Cornwall Music Service Trust (CMST), Epworth House has been freed up for an exciting new chapter at the heart of the School site.

The redevelopment will see the building reimagined as a central space dedicated to pupil wellbeing, bringing together a range of services designed to support young people academically, physically, emotionally and mentally. This development forms part of Truro School’s wider ethos of nurturing the whole child, ensuring that care and support sit alongside academic ambition.

The ground floor will become home to an expanded Medical Centre, including triage and treatment rooms, alongside meeting spaces, outdoor education provision and staff offices. These facilities will enable a more integrated and responsive approach to pupil care and support.

Upstairs, the space will be dedicated to learning support, careers guidance and enrichment, creating a collaborative environment where pupils can access tailored academic support, explore future pathways and engage in activities that broaden their skills and interests.

The project represents a full refurbishment of Epworth House, with works already underway and plans to be fully open in the Spring. Improvements will include an enhanced IT infrastructure and full redecoration throughout. Additional features, such as en-suite facilities within the Medical Centre and updated heating systems, will ensure the building meets modern standards while providing a welcoming and practical environment for pupils and staff.

Once complete, the new wellbeing hub at Epworth House will play a vital role in supporting the Truro School community, providing a dedicated space where pupils can access the care, guidance and opportunities they need to thrive.
