With rehearsals for the Early Years and Key Stage 1 Christmas performances in full flow, there has been fun and learning aplenty at Truro School Pre-Prep.
This week. Nursery has been exploring the number 5. We went on a number 5 hunt around the classroom and found lots of them. We then all had a go at showing number 5 on a 5-frame. This visual math tool, typically a one-by-five rectangular grid, is used to help young children understand numbers up to five. It consists of a row of five boxes where objects like counters can be placed to show numbers, count, and develop number bonds. This helps children visualise quantities and the relationship between them.
In Drawing Club, we are exploring an animation this week. We are looking at ‘The Snowman’, and we used lots of amazing vocabulary to describe how the boy was feeling when he first saw the snow falling.
This week, in Reception, we have been reading The Tiger Who Came to Tea in Drawing Club and changing the ending by writing phrases using our known phonics. We have spent time rehearsing our Christmas play and practising our lines.
We have been reading The Christmas Carol and thinking about the true message of Christmas in Year 1. In science this week, we have been learning about the life cycles of different animals, including humans.
Year 2 has been learning all about Sinterklaas, the Dutch version of St Nicholas. We each took home some delicious pepernoten to enjoy with our families. In maths this week, we have been learning how to tell the time.
