With the summer sun shining brightly, we have had another lovely week at Truro School Pre-Prep.
Our Nursery pupils have shown fantastic compassion in welcoming some of our new children and getting to know them, ready for them to join us in September. We enjoyed showing them the Wild Woods and then listening to a story together.
We also made some sand play-dough, and we loved using words to describe how different it feels from our normal play-dough. We also made chocolate, cherry and star cakes using shaped cutters and spatulas and decorated them with the glass gems.
In Reception, we enjoyed a trip to Gwennap Pit with Rev Helen. We learnt all about John Wesley, who preached to the miners there, and we enjoyed a mile-long walk from the top of the pit to the bottom and back again! With the sun out at last, we learnt all about beach safety with Miss Chapman and what the different flags meant.
This week in literacy, Year 1 pupils finished writing myths full of excitement and adventure! In maths, we are learning about the days of the week and months of the year. We are using songs to help us remember their order.
In maths this week, Year 2 has been learning about time and how to identify half-past, quarter-past and quarter-to the hour. We have been continuing our discussion on plastic in the ocean and using adventurous adjectives to write our own version of the story ‘Somebody Swallowed Stanley’. We have also enjoyed playing cricket in the sunshine.
