Weekly News from Pre-Prep 06.06.25

Our Pre-Prep staff and children have returned to school after their half term holidays with buckets of energy and enthusiasm for their learning.

In Nursery this week, we have been discussing what adventures we had on our half-term holiday. We looked at a world map and discussed the places we visited. Some of us had visited Morocco, while others went to Lappa Valley.

We also got to explore our bird’s nest as the birds have flown off, ready for their own adventures.

This week, our Reception pupils have been writing sentences about our half term holiday. Using the story of the Elves and the Shoemaker as inspiration, we have been learning about different times of the day and days of the week.  Some of our children have been inspired to write letters to the Elves to see if they can help with some jobs around our classrooms. As part of our discussions, we have also enjoyed talking about nocturnal and diurnal animals.

As part of our Cornwall topic, Year 1 are exploring the myth of St Agnes and the Bolster. They have been creating new creatures to use in their own versions of this myth. In science, we are learning that plants need air, water, soil and sunlight to grow. We have conducted an experiment to find out which of these variables is the most important for good plant growth.

This week in PE, Year 2 practised our long jump and throwing in preparation for Sports Day. In Forest School, we are learning about camouflage, and we have been spotting examples of camouflage in nature.
