Unearthing Cornwall’s Geological Past

Dr Sam Hughes, Senior geology lecturer from Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter, guided students through Cornwall’s 400 million-year geological history, uniquely contextualising their GCSE and A-level syllabi within the region’s geological past. With a Ph.D. in Geology and a focus on Cornwall’s geological narrative, Dr. Hughes shared his passion for the subject and shed light on the diverse career opportunities available in the county. During his fascinating presentation, he underscored the educational pathways available in geology at Camborne School of Mines. Miss Hope thanked Dr Hughes for his talk and commended him for broadening pupils’ horizons and highlighting potential future prospects for geology students post-A-Level.
