Pupils have been exploring the latest installation in the Heseltine Gallery – Something Lost, Something Found by Rachael Coward – as part of their Wednesday Afternoon Activities.
The exhibition, which brings together sculpture, ceramics and prints, reflects on rural identity, memory, and the thresholds between loss and discovery.
Art Teacher Mrs Daemi-Rashidi took a group of pupils to view the display, encouraging discussion around the works and giving them the chance to experience art in a professional gallery setting. Wednesday Afternoon Activities offer pupils a valuable break from their usual timetable, allowing them to try new subjects, nurture personal interests and develop co-curricular skills. Each pupil takes part in one activity per term, and this group, choosing art, were able to immerse themselves in a thought-provoking body of work.
Rachael Coward, who is also Truro School’s Artist-in-Residence and a member of the art department, presents both 2D and 3D pieces, many of which have developed during her time at the school.
Having studied Fine Art A-Level in Somerset, Rachael moved to Falmouth where she completed a foundation course followed by a degree in Fine Art, cementing both her artistic career and her love of Cornwall. She is a former Co-Director of CAMP, a member-led network for Devon and Cornwall’s creative and visual arts community, and is also an experienced art educator and facilitator, often working with young people and families. Recent projects include collaborations with Tate, Milton Keynes Arts Centre and the South West Heritage Trust.
The exhibition is open to the public from Saturday 6 September to Sunday 5 October 2025, weekends between 10am and 3pm.
