Well done to our U11 rugby team, who took part in the U11 IAPS Rugby Festival at Sherborne School on Wednesday, 5th November 2025.
Under the cover of darkness, the team made the journey to the beautiful surroundings of Sherborne School in Dorset. Twelve teams were in attendance, split into two groups, and five matches were on the cards against schools that we had not played before – and Mount Kelly once again!
The bus journey was still on our minds and in our bodies as we made a slow start against St Peter’s, who scored a couple of tries without too much resistance. However, one or two more St Peter’s tries seemed to wake us up, and we started to put them under some pressure, crossing the white line for our first tries of the day. We performed with more physicality and skill in our next couple of games against Bristol Grammar School and Mount Kelly, and scored a few more tries; the pick of the bunch being one from Oscar after a good ‘draw and pass’ move by Barney and Harry.
A hearty BBQ-style lunch followed the morning matches, and we were faced with two more matches in the afternoon. Leweston proved too strong for us, although we did score another great try, and that left us with our final match against Perrott Hill. This turned out to be a try-fest with each team showing some fabulous running skills, and the attacking was definitely more evident than the defending! In a back-and-forth match, the final score was a fitting draw.
Our opponents and hosts were very grateful that we had made the trip up from Cornwall, and we hope to see them again next year! Well done to the squad of Ollie S, Will S, Rupert R-S, Oscar W, Samuel P, Harry B, Barney H, Rohan M, Emir A, Edward S and Ray W, and thanks to Mr Speer for coming along too.
