Prep Sports Round Up 28.11.25

It has been another busy week for sports at Truro School Prep, with our Year 3 and 4 netballers in action on Tuesday to start the week in a friendly at Truro High School.

For many of the children, this was their very first experience of travelling to an away game, and the excitement was clear from the moment they stepped onto the bus. The journey itself was a highlight, with lots of chatter and anticipation about what the match would be like, and several pupils commented that they felt excited yet nervous to be representing their school for the first time.

Once there, we split into two teams for each age group, with players playing a mix of High 5s netball and the more traditional 7-a-side game, in the hope of keeping everyone warm and moving.

During the games, our players demonstrated excellent passing, moving the ball down the court with confidence and looking to move into space, a skill they have been practising regularly in netball club. It was lovely to see their confidence grow as the games continued, with every child contributing through defending, attacking and supporting their teammates.

Although the score was not the main focus, the children left the court feeling proud of their efforts and excited for future fixtures, with some great goals being scored on all courts. This first away match was a memorable milestone, and we hope it inspires them to continue developing their love of netball.

Netball club will continue every Tuesday after school (4.00pm-5.00pm) until Easter. Children are reminded to bring warm clothes, navy bobble hats and gloves if necessary, whilst we ride out these colder weeks.

Also in action were our Year 5 and 6 footballers, who took part in a rearranged round-robin football festival against Archbishop Benson, Threemilestone and Bosvigo Schools. The event featured strong performances from all sides, with every match hotly contested.

Our teams showed real promise with some sharp passing and determined play against tough opposition. As always, we were proud of the camaraderie and welcoming spirit our players showed, and it was fantastic to see so many cheerful faces from all the schools involved at the end of the afternoon.
